Objective To observe the clinical effect of peroutaneous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) of parathyroid gland guided by color ultrasound on dialysis patients with secondary hyperparathy-roidism. Methods Percutaneons ethanol injection therapy (PELT) was used for seven patients who suf-fered from secondary hyperparathyroidism, and systemic perioperative nursing care and relative health edu-cation were applied. Results All patients had obtained successful operation without any operative sud-denness or associated complications,Patients" serious scratching and bone ache was obviously relieved. Conclusions Treatment with PEIT and effective nursing to patients suffered from secondary hyper-parathyroidism can reduce the complications, and than improve the quality of live for patients.

Objective To examine the cognitive function in healthy first-degree relatives (FDRs) of patients with bipolar Ⅰ disorder. Methods Cognitive function were studied in one hundred twenty healthy FDRs of patients with bipolar Ⅰ disorder and one hundred normal controls using digital symbol, digital span, visual reproduction, trail making test A (TMT-A) and trail making test B (TMT-B).Results Compared with normal controls, FDRs showed impairment in all indexes of the tests, including digital symbol, digital span (forward, reversed and forward + reversed), visual reproduction, TMT-A and TMT-B (t=-3.44、-4.23、-4.32、-4.98、-2.59、4.32、3.78, respectively, Ps≤0.01).By analysis of covariance (covariant: age and years of education), FDRs were still impaired in these indexes (P<0.05).Compared with sex-matched normal controls, male FDRs showed impairment in all indexes of the tests, but female FDRs only showed impairment in digital span (reversed, forward + reversed), TMT-A and TMT-B (P<0.05).Conclusions Attention, memory and executive function are impaired in healthy first-degree relatives of patients with bipolar Ⅰ disorder.

Objective To develop a kind of heated medical elastic stockings to prevent the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and hypothermia in patients with lumbar degenerative diseases undergoing posterior lumbar intervertebral fusion (PLIF).Methods A total of 180 patients with lumbar degenerative diseases undergoing PLIF from February 2015 to August 2017 were selected by purposive sampling method, and divided into routine group (group A), normal elastic stockings (group B), heated medical elastic stockings (group C) according to the sequence of operation time, with 60 cases in each group. On the premise of routine thermal protection measures and DVT basic preventive measures, group A did not wear stretch socks, group B wore normal elastic stockings, and group C wore heated medical elastic stockings. Patients in the group B and C were treated with normal and heated stretch stockings during anesthesia preparation 1 hour prior to surgery. The incidence rate of lower extremity DVT and hypothermia in each group was calculated by monitoring deep veins blood flow velocity of both lower limbs, D-dimer, foot temperature and the core temperature at each time node during the operation. Results In group C: left femoral superficial vein velocity was (17.47±3.07) cm/s; right femoral superficial vein velocity was (16.95±3.25) cm/s; left popliteal vein blood flow velocity was (16.03± 3.37) cm/s; right popliteal vein blood flow velocity was (16.37±3.39) cm/s. All the results above were higher than those in group A and B (P<0.01). The D-dimer were (587±129) μg/L at the end of surgery and (392± 119)μg/L 24 h after surgery in group C, which were significantly lower than group A and B (P<0.01). The incidence of DVT at the end of operation and 24 hour postoperation in group A was 8.3% and 15.0%, while 5.0% and 5.0% in group B respectively. There was no DVT occurrence in group C at the two time points, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Comparing foot temperature and core temperature of each time point, it was significantly higher in group C than group A and B (P<0.05). There were 8 cases of hypothermia in group C, and the incidence rate was 12.5%, which were both significantly lower than that in group A (56.7%) and group B (40.0%) (P<0.01).Conclusions The heated elastic stockings can effectively reduce the risk of DVT and hypothermia in the patients with lumbar degenerative diseases undergoing PLIF and can be popularized in clinical practice.

OBJECTIVETo assess the association of neural development-related genes LIS1and TSNAX with bipolar disorder in a Chinese Han population.
METHODSThree hundred and eight five patients (including 188 males and 197 females) from Guangzhou Brain Hospital with bipolar disorder meeting the Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Bipolar Disorder (BDI) (Fourth Edition) criteria and 475 healthy controls from the local community were recruited. Ten single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the LIS1 and TSNAX genes were genotyped by GoldenGate genotyping assay on an Illumina Beadstation 500 machine. Association analyses of SNPs and haplotypes were performed with Plink 1.07 software.
RESULTSAnalysis of the total sample has failed to find any association of SNP or haplotype of the two genes with BDI (P> 0.05). When patients were divided into subgroups with or without psychotic symptom, no significant association of the two genes was found with psychotic BDI or non-psychotic BDI (P> 0.05). No significant association was found between any SNP and haplotype of two genes and female BDI or male BDI, nor were significant association found between age of onset and LIS1 and TSNAX gene polymorphisms.
CONCLUSIONOur results indicated that LIS1 and TSNAX genes are not associated with susceptibility to bipolar I disorder in Chinese Han population.

Objective:To explore the impact of CACNA1C rs58619945 genotype on the cortical thickness of attentional networks in patients with Bipolar 1 disorder type (BD-Ⅰ). Methods:From August 2013 and August 2019, a total of 155 BD-Ⅰ patients were recruited from the outpatient and inpatient Departments of the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, along with 82 healthy controls (HC) from the community and university. Genotype for the CACNA1C rs58619945 locus was determined for all BD-I patients and HC subjects, followed by 3.0 T magnetic resonance imaging scans to measure the cortical thickness in the alert, orienting, and executive control subnetworks. General linear models (GLMs) were used to evaluate the impact of CACNA1C rs58619945 on the cortical thickness of attentional networks. Concurrently, attentional dimension functions were assessed using repeatable battery for the assessment of neuropsychological status (RBANS) and Cambridge neuropsychological test automated battery rapid visual information processing (CANTAB RVP) test. This study was approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University(Ethics No. 2023-056). Results:Compared with the HC group, the BD-Ⅰ patients had shown reduced thickness in bilateral prefrontal cortex, bilateral posterior cingulate cortex, and bilateral superior temporal cortex( P<0.05). A significant interaction between the CACNA1C genotype and the cortical thickness(HC vs.BD) of right prefrontal cortex, right posterior parietal cortex and right superior temporal cortex was noted( P<0.05). Partial correlation analysis has demonstrated a significant correlation between CANTAB RVP and RBANS attention indices and cortical thickness in the right prefrontal cortex, right posterior cingulate cortex( P<0.05), and right superior temporal cortex predominantly among carriers of the BD-Ⅰ G allele. Conclusion:The G allele of CACNA1C rs58619945 is associated with cortical thickness of the right prefrontal cortex, right posterior cingulate cortex, and right superior temporal cortex in BD-Ⅰ, which are part of the alerting and orienting network.
