OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the role and clinical significance of the expression of FHIT gene in development and progression of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC).
METHOD:
The expression FHIT protein was detected by immunohistochemistry method in the 52 cases with LSCC and 23 cases of adjacent cancer tissues and 10 cases of laryngeal normal mucosa. The expression of FHIT was analyzed in LSCC with different clinicopathological parameters.
RESULT:
The expression of FHIT in normal tissues (90.0%) and adjacent tissues (78.3%) was obvious higher than that in LSCC (46.2%), which had statistical significant difference (P < 0.01). There was a positive correlation between FHIT expression and TNM staging, lymph node metastasis; but not pathological grade.
CONCLUSION
The loss of FHIT expression may be correlated with the development and progression of laryngeal carcinoma. FHIT may be an important tumor suppressor gene in LSCC.

Objective To investigate the application effect of voice rehabilitation therapy in the conservative treatment of vocal nodules. Methods A total of 41 patients with vocal nodules were selected as the research object. Patients were randomly divided into two groups:group A (n=21) and group B (n=20). Patients in group A received drug therapy ( Ganju Bingmei tablets and Budesonide) combined with the voice rehabilitation therapy, while patients in group B only received drug therapy ( Ganju Bingmei tablets and Budesonide). Laryngostroboscope examination, voice acoustic analysis and voice handicap index (VHI) were used to collect patients′data in first-time consultancy and two months after intervention, and the curative effect between two groups were compared. Results The effective rate of treatment in group A ( 95%) was higher than that in the group B (80%) (P>0.05). Two months after treatment, the Jitter, Shimmer and the total score of VHI scale of all patients were lower than the data before treatment, and the dysphonia severity index ( DSI) and maximum phonation time ( MPT) were higher than that before treatment ( P<0.05) . Two months after treatment, the jitter and shimmer in group A were lower than group B ( P>0.05) . The MPT and DSI in group A were higher than group B (P<0.05). The total score of VHI was lower than group B (P<0.05). Conclusions Voice rehabilitation therapy combined with drug therapy are more efficient than single drug therapy in the conservative treatment of vocal nodules.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the influence of electrotome on permanent and temporary cardiac pacemaker in laparoscopic cholecystectomy ( LC),and the application of cardiac pacemaker to the cases of cholecystolithiasis combined with bradyarrhythmia.MethodsClinical data of 215 patients with permanent or temporary cardiac pacemaker who underwent were studied for the preoperative and postoperative variation of pacemaker function, and for the influence of electricity coagulation during the operation on cardiac pacemaker function.ResultsLC was successfully completed in all 215 patients. The function of cardiac pacemaker was not obviously interfered during the operation, and the parameters of cardiac pacemaker did not remarkably change after the operation.ConclusionCardiac pacemaker is slightly interfered when electrotome and electrocoagulation were used in LC; LC is feasible and safe for patients with bradyarrhythmia by placement of cardiac pacemaker.
