AIM: To investigate the effects of Chlamydia pneumoniae infection and hyperlipidemia on the expression of NF-?B and AP-1 in the myocardium. METHODS: The indirect immunofluorescence method was used to examine wild C57BL/6J mice infected with Chlamydia pneumoniae and fed with an atherogenic diet. The expression of the subunit of NF-?B, P50, and c-Fos in the murine myocardium was observed. RESULTS: Chlamydia pneumoniae infection and hyperlipidemia induced the activation of NF-?B and AP-1 in murine myocardium. P50 and c-Fos were not detected in the controls, but there were different levels of positive expression in the experiments (P

BACKGROUND:The oxygen free radicals and apoptosis play an important role in limb ischemia/reperfusion injury, so we can al eviate limb ischemia/reperfusion injury by inhibiting the production of oxygen free radicals and apoptosis.
OBJECTIVE:To discuss the application and effect of edaravone on limb ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats.
METHODS:Of the 30 female Sprague-Dawley rats, 20 rats were randomly selected to make models of limb ischemia/reperfusion injury by ligating the root of right lower limb with a self-made bal oon cuff at 40 kPa pressure to block blood flow for 4 hours and reperfusing. After success model establishment, they were randomly assigned to two groups. In the edaravone perfusion group, edaravone 3 mg/kg was injected via the left femoral vein at 5 minutes before reperfusion. In the model group and normal group (the remaining 10 rats), an equal volume of physiological saline was given at the same time point. At 24 hours after reperfusion, the right anterior tibial muscle of each group was removed and these ultrastructural changes were observed by transmission electron microscope. Bcl-2 mRNA and Bax mRNA of rat anterior tibial muscle of each group were semiquantitatively detected with the RT-PCR and the ratio of bcl-2/bax was calculated.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Electron microscope results:compared with the model group, the muscle fibers were neater;the M line and the N line were clearer;the swel ing of mitochondria was al eviated;the numbers of mitochondria and mitochondrial crista were also increased in the edaravone perfusion group. (2)RT-PCR results:At 24 hours after reperfusion, the relative expression of bcl-2 mRNA and the ratio of bcl-2 mRNA to bax mRNA in right anterior tibial muscle were lower in the model group compared with the edaravone perfusion group (P<0.05). However, relative expression of bax mRNA was greater in the model group than that in the edaravone perfusion group, which were both higher than the normal group (P<0.05). Results indicated that the free radical scavenger edaravone relieved limb ischemia/reperfusion injury by improving the mitochondrial ultrastructure and promoting expression of bcl-2 mRNA and inhibiting expression of bax mRNA, and could provide a new choice for the treatment of limb ischemia/reperfusion injury.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical application of gray scale and color Doppler sonography in the diagnosis of hepatic malignant cystic tumors.
METHODSCharacteristics of gray scale and color Doppler sonography were studied in 16 cases of malignant hepatic tumors confirmed by pathology. Tumor size, shape, number of lesion, thickness of cystic wall and echogenecity of the lesion were observed with gray scale sonography. Blood supply of the tumor and its velocity were observed with Color Doppler sonography.
RESULTSOne single lesion was common in primary malignancy while multiple lesions signified metastasis. Sonographic findings revealed that the shape of the tumor was spheroid in 8 cases, irregular in 5 and leaf-shaped in 3, with the diameter varying from 1.9 cm to 13.6 cm. Sonography showed malignant cystic tumor with irregular thick wall in 15 cases, multiple septa in 7 cases and papillary projections in 6 on gray scale. Color Doppler flow signal was detected in the irregular thick wall, multiple septa or papillary projections in 14 cases, of which the arterial blood flow signals were demonstrated in 13.
CONCLUSIONColor Doppler is able to clearly detect the blood flow signals in the irregular thick wall, multiple septa or papillary projections, providing an important sign for the diagnosis of hepatic malignant cystic tumors.

Chinese Critical Care Medicine 2020;32(3):362-366
Objective:To analyze the implementation of medical emergency team (MET) in Fuxing Hospital of Capital Medical University, and to investigate the characteristics such as the time, department, disease, cause of the MET calls, in order to provide a basis for the improvement of MET's implementation. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted. MET calls that received between January 1st, 2015 and December 31st, 2018 at Fuxing Hospital were collected. The calls' information included the quarter, time, and the patients' gender, age, admission time, department, admission diagnosis, the reason for the calls, the operation and outcome of the MET upon arrival. Results:A total of 846 MET calls were occurred during 4 years from 2015 to 2018. The frequencies of the first and third quarter were relatively high with 28.0% (237/846) and 26.5% (224/846), respectively. The events mainly occurred during the day (08:00-19:59) with 611 calls (72.2%). There were more men [64.3% (544/846)] than women [35.7% (302/846)]. The calls were mainly from the elderly over 60 years old, and gradually increased with age, which distributed the most in patients aging 80-89 years old, accounting for 51.5% of all calls (436/846). Among all the MET events, 80.5% (681/846) were from department of internal medicine, 18.8% (159/846) were from department of surgery, and 0.7% (6/846) were from department of gynecology and obstetrics. The top 3 diseases reported in the calls were respiratory diseases [31.6% (267/846)], nervous system diseases [20.8% (176/846)] and circulatory diseases [9.9% (84/846)]. The reason of MET calls showed that abnormal pulse oxygen saturation [SpO 2, 27.8% (235/846)] were the most among 4 vital signs. After MET rescue, 7.3% (62/846) of the patients died, 48.7% (412/846) were transferred to intensive care unit (ICU) for further treatment, and 41.9% (354/846) remained under observation. Conclusions:The frequency of MET calls in Fuxing Hospital of Capital Medical University was relatively stable over the years, mostly received in the daytime (08:00-19:59) of the first and third quarter. Most of the patients were male aged 80-89 years old. The most MET calls were from department of internal medicine and due to respiratory disease. SpO 2 was the most common abnormal indicator. According to the above characteristics, MET can focus on them in the future.

Objective:To analyze the current research status of ideological and political education content in domestic nursing courses and facilitate nursing education reform. Methods:Using purposeful sampling, 25 exemplary cases of ideological and political education in nursing courses from Xinhua Net were selected. NVivo 12 software was employed for content analysis, summarizing the ideological and political elements, carriers of these elements, and types of integration methods in nursing courses. Results:Nursing educators have thoroughly explored ideological and political elements, with the most attention given to professional ethics, though less focus was placed on personality development. A variety of carriers for ideological and political elements were utilized, with practical experience being the most common, but there was a lack of integration with policy and regulations. Various integration methods were applied, with interactive methods being the most frequently used, while practical approaches were less common. Conclusions:Future nursing education should emphasize fostering students' sense of national identity and focus more on personality development. It is important to promote a more balanced use of carriers for ideological and political elements, paying particular attention to policy-related content. The use of information technology in teaching should also be explored to flexibly apply various teaching methods, achieving the subtle integration of ideological and political education within nursing curricula.
