The case of long-term complicated infectious mass on the inner thigh root after transobturator urethral sling is rare. This paper reported a case, who underwent a surgery of the "trans-obturator mid-urethral slings" for stress urinary incontinence 9 years ago. A mass on the root of the right thigh was found 3 months ago, accompanied with low fever. About 1cm tape was exposed on the front wall of the right side of the vagina. The patient underwent resection of the mass on the root of the right thigh and partial removal of the tape under spinal anesthesia. After one year’ follow-up, there was no significant change in urinary control ability compared with that before the operation.

In this paper, the effect of 5% (V/V) n-alkanes (e.g, n-Heptane, n-Octane, n-Decane, n-Dodecanen-Tetradecane and n-Hexadecane) on the growth and protease production of organic-solvent-tolerant- bacte-rium Bacillus licheniformis YP1 was studied. 5%(V/V) n-alkanes had no effect on the stability of YP1 prote-ase. 5% (V/V) n-alkanes had no notable influence on the yield of strain YP1 but dramatically affected theprotease production. The presence of n-Heptane, n-Octane and n-Decane deeply repressed the protease pro-duction; however n-Dodecane, n-Tetradecane and n-Hexadecane enhanced the protease production promi-nencely. The concentration of n-Tetradecane (1%-8%, V/V) had a direct ration with the protease production. The detailed experiments showed that the notable increase of protease activity appeared at the late logarithmof cultivation compared with the blank. The cell shape of YP1 strain remarkably decreased when grown inthe presence of n-Tetradecane. This is the first report about the effect of n-alkanes on the protease productionby the solvent tolerant bacterium.

Objective To investigate the effects of berberine on tumor-associated macrophages (TAM)and the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)of intestinal polyps in Apc(Min/+) mice. Methods A total of 20 Apc(Min/+) mice, four weeks old, were equally divided into the control group and the berberine group,10 in each group. The mice of the control group drank plain water, while the mice of berberine group drank water with 0.1 % berberine. After 12 weeks, all the mice were sacrificed. The intestine and colon were isolated, and the numbers of polyps were counted. The expression of F4/80,inducible nitric oxide synthase-2 (iNOS),macrophage mannose receptor (MR)and COX-2 was detected by immunohisto-chemistry method. The relative expression of COX-2 at protein level was measured by Western blotting. The t test was performed for comparison between two independent groups. Results The total number of intestinal polyps, the number of small intestinal polyps and the number of colon polyps of the berberine group (11 .50±2.05 ,10.50±1 .77 and 1 .00±0.46,respectively)were all less than those of the control group (30.63±1 .69,28.00±2.00 and 2.63±0.74,respectively),and the differences were statistically significant (t=16.727,16.952 and 3.162,P =0.001 ,0.001 and 0.010,respectively).The percentage of F4/80 positive cells in the stroma of polyps of the berberine group ((17.40 ±4.23 )%)was less than that of the control group ((31 .24±6.34)%),and the difference was statistically significant (t =5 .327, P =0.043).The percentage of iNOS positive cells in the stroma of polyps of the berberine group ((7.43± 1 .78 )%) was higher than that of the control group ((2.72±0.68)%), and the difference was statistically significant (t=7.335 ,P =0.004).The percentage of MR positive cells in stroma of polyps of the berberine group ((19.52±1 .54)%)was less than that of the control group ((12.63±0.68)%),and the difference was statistically significant (t=5 .634,P =0.016).The percentage of COX-2 positive cells in stroma of polyps of berberine group ((3.38 ± 0.51 )%)was less than that of the control group ((7.60±0.57 )%),and the difference was statistically significant (t = 7.234,P = 0.001 ).The relative expression of COX-2 at protein level of polyps of the berberine group was lower than that of the control group. Conclusion Berberine may take the role in inhibiting the growth of intestinal polyps in Apc(Min/+) mice through interfering the differentiation of TAM in polyps and suppression the expression of COX-2.

The efficacy and safety of uric-acid-lowering therapy (UALT) on slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) accompanied by hyperuricemia were assessed. We searched Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMbase, CNKI, Wanfang and Vip databases up to November 15, 2012 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) which compared the effect of UALT to control therapy in hyperuricemic patients secondary to CKD, and then performed quality evaluation and meta-analysis on the included studies. Seven RCTs involving 451 cases were included. UALT delayed the increase of serum creatinine (MD=-62.55 μmol/L, 95% CI: -98.10 to -26.99) and blood urea nitrogen (MD= -6.15 mmol/L, 95% CI: -8.17 to -4.13) as well as the decrease of glomerular filtration rate [MD=5.65 mL/(min·1.73 m2), 95% CI: 1.88 to 9.41], decreased systolic blood pressure (SBP) (MD= -6.08 mmHg, 95% CI: -11.67 to -0.49), and reduced the risk of the renal disease progression (RR=0.30, 95% CI: 0.19 to 0.46). However, there was no statistically significant difference in 24-h urinary protein quantity and diastolic blood pressure (P>0.05). We identified that UALT could delay the progression of CKD with secondary hyperuricemia. And this also indirectly proved that hyperuricemia was a risk factor for the CKD progression.
10.Verification and evaluation on induction scheme for bodily movement of incisor in children
Journal of Medical Biomechanics 2014;29(4):E334-E338
Objective In order to analyze and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of induction scheme for bodily movement of incisor in children, the size, orientation and position of the force on tooth surface were estimated and analyzed. Methods The orthodontic jaw from a child was scanned to establish the 3D solid model including mandibular incisor, periodontal ligament and alveolar. Initial strain distributions on outer surface of the periodontal ligament were calculated by software Abaqus, and then the positive strain as the stimulation of the tooth movement was used to simulate the inducted effects from the inducer which was changed twice in succession. Results The rate of orthodontic tooth movement was about 0.27 mm per week, and the total displacement during an induction period was about 1 mm per month, showing it was in accordance with the real inducted effects in clinic. Conclusions The present study proved the feasibility of induction scheme for bodily movement of incisor in children and provided reference for formulation and optimization of induction scheme in clinic.
