1.Effects of Partial Body Weight Supported Stand Training on Depression and Balance Function after Massive Cerebral Infarction in Early Stage

Objective To investigate the effects of early partial body weight supported stand training on depression and balance function after massive cerebral infarction.Methods 40 patients with depression after massive cerebral infarction were divided into 2 groups,training group(n=20) and control group(n=20).All patients were treated with routine medication and rehabilitation.The patients of the training group also received partial body weight supported stand training in addition.They were assessed with the Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) and the Berg balance scale(BBS) before and after the treatment.Results After 8 weeks of treatment,the scores of HAMD and BBS of the training group had improved significantly more than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Early partial body weight supported stand training on the patients with depression after massive cerebral infarction may obviously improve balance function and reduce the degree of depression.
3.The changes of serum tumor markers levels during anti-tuberculosis treatment in active tuberculosis patients

Objective To evaluate the changes of serum tumor markers of carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125),carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199),carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC) during anti-tuberculosis treatment in patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis and tuberculous pleurisy.Methods This research was a prospective study.Sixty-three patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis and 24 patients with tuberculous pleurisy underwent blood samplings before treatment,2 and 6 months after treatment.Centaur XP chemiluminescent immunoassay was used to test serum levels of CA125,CA199,CEA and SCC.Thirty healthy subjects were included as controls.Student t-test was used to compare continuous variables,and chi-square test or Fisher exact test was used to compare categorical variables.Serial changes of serum tumor markers levels pre-and post-treatment were analyzed by repeated measures analysis of variance.Binary Logistic regression model was used for multivariate analysis.Results The mean serum CA125 level of the 63 patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis pre-treatment was (64.4± 30.4) U/mL,which was significantly higher than that of healthy controls ([12.7±5.5] U/mL,t=11.98,P<0.01).The mean serum CA125 level decreased to (16.9±6.1) U/mL after 6 months standardized treatment,which was significantly lower than that before treatment (t=12.74,P<0.01).While compared with healthy controls,the serum level of CA125 in patients who had completed the standardized treatment was not significantly different (t =0.94,P =0.348).When compared with the healthy controls,serum CA199,CEA,SCC levels in patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis before and after treatment showed no statistically significant difference (P> 0.05).Univariate analysis and multivariate analysis by Logistic regression analysis showed that bilateral pulmonary tuberculosis (x2 =7.746,P=0.006; OR=6.99,95%CI:1.73-28.22) and cavity pulmonary tuberculosis (x2 =6.254,P=0.012; OR=7.64,95%CI:1.64-35.35) were associated with increased serum CA125 level.The mean serum CA125 level of 24 cases of tuberculous pleurisy pre-treatment was (81.2 ± 37.6) U/mL,which was both significantly higher than that of patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis (t=2.153,P=0.034) and that of healthy controls (t=12.05,P<0.01).Similarly,CA125 levels sharply decreased to (15.5 ± 7.3) U/mL after 6 months standardized treatment,which was not statistically significant compared with the control group (t=0.450,P=0.652).However,CA199,CEA and SCC levels in tuberculous pleurisy pre-and post-treatment were all not statistically different from those of healthy controls (all P>0.05).Conclusion Serum CA125 can be used as a marker for assessing the disease progression and therapeutic efficacy for patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis and tuberculous pleurisy.
4.Acetylcholine sensitive K~+ channel (K_(ACh)) in chronic human atrial fibrillation

AIM: To investigate the changes of current and gene expression of acetylcholine sensitive K~+ channel (K_ ACh ) in chronic human atrial fibrillation (AF) and to evaluate the roles of K_ ACh expression in the occurring and maintenance of AF. METHODS: Acetylcholine sensitive K~+ currents (I_ KACh ) were recorded with the whole-cell patch clamp technique in single atrial myocyte of AF group and normal sinus rhythm group (SR group). The current densities-voltage relations were analyzed. The Kir3.4 mRNA was measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: (1) Compared with SR group, acetylcholine sensitive K~+ current densities in AF group were reduced under testing potential between -80 mV and -120 mV . Objective To compare the value on assessment of perfusion weighted imaging (PWI) using Gd-DTPA and the superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) particles (Resovist) in the experimental model of hyperacute cerebral infarction in rats. Methods Thirty Wistar rats were randomly divided into Group A and B (each n=15). After occluding the left middle cerebral artery with thread for 1 h in all rats, two dynamic MR perfusion imaging series were acquired after intravenous bolus injections of 8 μmol Fe/kg SPIO (Group A) and 0.2 mmol/kg Gd-DTPA (Group B), respectively. The doses were chosen to obtain similar maximum signal change in normally perfused brain. The perfusion imaging was compared between the region of interest (ROI) in the core area with severe ischemia and in the penumbra area of moderate ischemia. The parameters were compared between two groups with pathologic findings and TTC stain. Results The first-passage profiles were found to be similar for Gd-DTPA and SPIO, both in the core area with severe ischemia and in the penumbra area of moderate ischemia of rats models. No statistical difference of the parameters (CBV, MTT, TTP) of PWI for ischemic penumbra was detected between Group A and B. Conclusion The efficacy of the Resovist using in the MR PWI is similar to Gd-DTPA for diagnosis of the perfusion reduction in the rat stroke models. Strong susceptibility effects may be achieved with small injection volumes. Resovist may play an important role in MR PWI.
6.Operation for the treatment of radial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate clinical outcomes of fixation for the treatment of radial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface.
METHODSFrom March 2006 to January 2013,17 patients with radial head fractures with collapse of anterior articular surface were analysed. According to the Mason classification, there were 12 cases with Mason type II fractures and 5 cases with Mason type III fractures. All the patients were treated with open reduction through posterolateral entrance of elbow joint and Herbert or titanium cannulated screw internal fixation.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 6 to 18 months, with a mean of 11.3 months. According to the Broberg and Morrey score system, 2 patients got an excellent result, 12 good and 3 fair. There were no complications such as infection of elbow joint, nerve injury, non-union, traumatic osteoarthritis, heterotopic ossification and elbow instability. However, the postoperative activity range of elbow in the injuried side was less than that in the normal side.
CONCLUSIONRadial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface is easily misdiagnosed, and it can be treated with open reduction and internal fixation through posterolateral entrance.

7.Treatment of multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fractures with posterior pedicle screw

Objective To explore the clinical effect of posterior pedicle screw internal fixation in the treatment of multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fractures.Methods Thirteen patients with multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fractures were treated by posterior pedicle screw internal fixation.The Frankel score,percentage of vertebral compression and Cobb angle of the injured vertebral segment were analyzed to evaluate the surgery efficacy.Results All patients were followed up from 12 to 24 months ( averaged 15 months ).All cases achieved bone fusion with no implant failure.The Cobb angle of the injured vertebral segment was corrected from preoperative(22.2 ±5.3) degree to postoperative(5.3 ±3.5) degree and(6.2 ±3.6) degree at the last follow up.The percentage of vertebral compression was corrected from preoperative (45.7 ± 14.1 )% to postoperative ( 6.1 ± 3.8 ) % and ( 7.2 ± 3.9 ) % at the last follow up.All improvements showed significant differences when compared statistically( t =15.03,t =12.05,Ps <0.05 ).The spinal cord function was improved 1 to 2 degree in all patients except 2 patients of grade A.Conclusion The posterior fixation with pedicle screw is a secure,safe and effective method in treating multiple level noncontiguous thoracolumbar fracture.
8.Symptom monitoring in treatment of cancer patients

Objective To examine self-reported symptoms by the patients receiving cancer therapy, and find out the symptoms that should be coped with and managed during the treatment. Methods A pilot study was conducted on self-reported symptoms on 185 patients receiving chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy for different cancers. The Therapy-Related Symptoms Checklist (TRSC) was used. Results Severe symptoms on the TRSC subscales: loss of appetite,feeling sluggish, weight loss, nausea and hair loss, were reported by the patients. The frequently reported symptoms by those on chemotherapy were nausea, feeling sluggish, weight loss, vomiting, and taste change. The frequently reported symptoms by those on radiotherapy were feeling sluggish, weight loss, loss of appetite, difficult sleeping, and changing taste. The symptoms of loss of appetite, feeling sluggish, weight loss, hair loss, and nausea were both frequently reported by those on radiotherapy and those on chemotherapy. Conclusion Symptom monitoring may be facilitated by TRSC, based on the severity and frequency of reported symptoms, more patients and caregivers could know which symptoms should be preferential interventions.
9.Screening of High-pyruvate-producing Strain Using by TTC-CaCO_3 Complexes Medium

It designs a way that can easily screen high-pyruvate-producing strain.It is a intelligently selected method which can highly improve the efficiency of strain screening.The principle can be described as the following:On the CaCO-3 medium,a transparent ring can be exhibited based on the reaction of PYR produced by the strain and CaCO-3 in the medium for pyruvate-calcium is a kind of soluble substance,it is obviously that the high-pyruvate-producing strain has a bigger dimension of the transparent ring.On the other hand,color reaction between TTC and ADH indicate the enzyme activities which have a proportional relation with color,our object strain is a weak-ADH-enzyme-activities type with a weak metabolic flux from PYR to alcohol.So the white color strain may be the right choice.
10.Expression,Purification and Antibody Preparation of Recombinant C8orf32 Protein

C8orf32 is a gene which has not been functionally characterized,the mRNA level of this gene is significantly higher in breast cancer tissues than that in normal breast tissues.The amplified cDNA fragment was inserted into the pGEX-6P1 vector fused with the upstream GST gene.The expression vector was transformed into the E.coli BL21(DE3) strain and expression of GST-C8orf32 fusion protein was induced by IPTG..After removal of GST tag by site-specific protease,the C8orf32 protein fused with an eight amino acid peptide tag was obtained.The purity of recombinant C8orf32 protein was about 95%.The identity of the purified protein was confirmed by N-terminal sequencing and tandem mass spectrometry.The polyclonal antibody was prepared by immunizing the New Zealand white rabbits with C8orf32 protein.The polyclonal antibody was proved to recognize the C8orf32 protein correctly.The purified C8orf32 protein can be used for structural and functional studies and the polyclonal antibody can be used for tissue specific protein expression profiling.
