4.The relationship between maxillary sinus floor and the roots of maxillary third molar observed by CBCT
Journal of Practical Stomatology 2015;(1):139-140
Cone-bine CT(CBCT)images of 2 130 maxillary third molars were divided into 3 groups according to the impaction position. The relationship between the floor of maxillary sinus and the roots of maxillary third molar was analyzed and compared. In low, median and high impaction groups the probability of the root tip of maxillary third molar higher than the floor of maxillary sinus was 4.5%,10.3% and 14.6% respectively.

The Chinese acupuncture doesn't only belong to China but rather to the world. The boom of overseas acupuncture education and scientific research as well as the satisfactory working environment compels us to reflect the Chinese traditional medicine education in our country.Especially in higher education specialty courses of acupuncture should not be subdivided;meanwhile, much attention should be paid to elementary education of western medicine.

AIM: To investigate the effects of oral administration of Astragalus membranceus, mung bean and arsenolite on the toxic of the arsenolite induced rats and the possible mechanisms with metallothionein (MT). METHODS: All the rats were oral administration with arsenolite. The Astragalus membranceus and mung bean were compared with the cadmium chloride which induced MT synthesis. The contents of MT were determined by cadmium saturation method, the liver mRNA levels for MT 1, MT 2 were detected by RT PCR. The protective effects of renal and liver were observed by testing alanine aminotransferase (ALT), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (SCR). RESULTS: The contents of MT were accorded with the mRNA expression of MT 1, MT 2. Arsenolite, Astragalus membranceus and mung bean could induce the synthesis of MT, but the contents of MT which arsenolite induced were trace. The contents of MT significantly increased after oral administration of Astragalus membranceus and mung bean, especially in the Astragalus membranceus group (P

BACKGROUND:Clinical y, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s combined with artificial bones for early osteonecrosis of the femoral head have a wonderful outcome.
OBJECTIVE:To review the biological properties of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s and to summarize the application progress of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s combined with different artificial bones in the treatment of early osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
METHODS:PubMed (2003-2013), FMJS (2003-2013), Wanfang (2005-2013), CNKI (2005-2013) and CBM (2005-2013) databases were retrieved by computer using the keywords of“bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s;artificial bone;osteonecrosis of the femoral head”in Chinese and English.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:It wil lower the pressure of the femoral head, accelerate repair of the blood capil ary, improve the blood supply, osteoblast proliferation and differentiation, and thus delay or even prevent artificial joint replacement after osteonecrosis of the femoral head by applying bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s combined with different artificial bones, such as corl ine hydroxyapatite, calcium hydroxylaptite, biological ceramics and calcium sulfate bones. But now, there are stil a lot of problems which need to be solved, including pathological mechanism underlying bone marrow mesenchymal stem cel s for treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head, obvious difference between the quantity and quality of seed cel s because of individual difference, different sites and culture techniques. So, artificial bone materials are under review, and large-sample randomized control trials are required. Its long-term outcomes also lack for fol ow-up observation, as wel as there is no a unified quantitative standard for the appropriate selection of indication, curative effect evaluation and the awareness of the operation.

OBJECTIVE Apolyclonalantibody-basedhomogeneouschemiluminescenceimmunoas-say was developed and optimized using AlphaLISA technology for the quantitative detection of microcys-tin-LR(MC-LR)inwatersamples.METHODS Thismethodwasbasedonacompetitivemodelin which an immune complex was formed from the ingegral binding of artificial MC-LR antigen-coated lumi-nescene beads, free MC-LR standards or sa mples, antibody and biotinylated second antibody.Next sensor bead were added that approached the i mmune co mplex through biotin-streptavidin interaction. With the exciting light, the energy was passed from the sensor luminescer before a special emission light could be observed. To opti mize the reaction conditions, working dilutions of polyclonal antibody and bioti-nylated second antibody were assayed while the effect of buffer syste ms and ti me of each reaction were evaluated.RESULTS Maininfluencingfactorsoftheassaywerediscussedasworkingdilutionsofpoly-clonal antibody and biotinylated goat anti rabbit IgG,assay buffer and reacting ti me.After opti mization of reaction conditions,MC-LR AlphaLISA could be finished in 40 min, with a sensitivity of 0.006 μg·L-1 and a dynamic range of 0.006 -5 μg·L-1 .The coefficient of variation was below 10% and average recovery was 1 07.7%.Moreover,the cross reactivity rates of MC-RR and MC-RY to MC-LR were 13.2%and0.91%,respectively.CONCLUSION Thismethodishighlysensitiveandspecific,time-saving and quite suitable for high throughput determination of MC-LR water samples.

Objective To investigate the epidemiology of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) in five rural counties of eastern China and analyze the biological, demographic and social risk factors. Methods Subjects of this study were all the diagnosed TB patients registered in the five study sites in Shandong Province,Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province during one year of 2008- 2009.Questionnaire interview was conducted in all the subjects to acquire the socio-demographic and clinical information.Sputum samples were collected for culturing and isolating of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.TB) strains. All the M.TB isolates were further tested for the susceptibility to first-line drugs including rifampin, isoniazid, ethambutol and strepomycin by proportion method.Mantel-Haenszel chi-square test,Fisher's exact test,ANOVA and nonconditional Logistic regression modeling were applied for data analysis. Results Among the total 380 M.TB isolates,105 were resistant to at least one of the first-line drugs. The total drug resistant TB prevalence was 27.6%.Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) was observed in 8.4% of newly treated TB patients, whereas it was 23.3%in previously treated TB patients. After adjusted by county, gender and age of the subjects, multivariate analysis showed that previous treatment history (OR=3.900,95%CI: 1.737-8.704),tuberculosis cavity (OR - 1.987,95 % CI: 1.001 - 3.942) were independent factors influencing the occurrence of MDR-TB.Conclusions The prevalence of drug resistant TB in rural area of eastern China is relatively low compared with the average level in China, while it is still higher than the global average level. The present study highlights that TB patients with previous treatment history, cavitaryTB are correlated with MDR-TB,and elderly patients are at high risk of MDR-TB.
