OBJECTIVE:To investigate the correlation of serum resistin and adiponectJn Ievels with bone mineral density(BMD)in 232 healthy male volunteers in Changsha area.METHODS:A totaI of 232 healthy Chinese men of Han population were selected randomly from Changsha area.All subjects gave their informed consent to participate in this study.Subjects were excluded from the study if they had conditions or received treatment that affecting bone metabolism.Serum adiponectin and resistin levels were determined by ELISA.BMD was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in total body,lumbar spine,and total hip.Body fat mass and lean body mass were measured by the whole body scanning.The correlation of serum adiponectin and resistin levels with fat mass and BMD at various sites were analyzed;the predictors of BMD at various sites was assayed using multiple linear stepwise regression analysis.RESULTS:Adiponectin was negatively correlated with fat mass(r=-0.216.P＜0.05),while resistin had no correlation with fat mass.The correlation disappeared after adjustment for age and fat mass(r=-0.006,P＞0.05).The significant negative correlations between adiponectin and BMD were found,and remained significant after adjustment for age and fat mass.There was no correlation between resistin and BMD at various sites.In the multiple linear stepwise regression analysis.adiponectin was an independent predictor of BMD in men.CONCLUSION:Resistin js not correlated with fat mass and BMD at various sites.Adiponectin is correlated with fat mass,and has a negative correlation with BMD at various sites,it is an independent predictor of BMD in Chinese men.

Time resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA) was used to detect the serum level of pepsinogen (PG).And the 13C urea breath test (13C-UBT) was employed to detect the Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection rate for 1060 subjects of health check-up.Statistics showed that the serum PGⅠ level of males was significantly higher than that of females.And the ratio of females with PG Ⅰ ＜ 60 μg/L and PG Ⅰ ＜ 60 μg/L + PG Ⅰ/PG Ⅱ ＜ 6 was significantly higher than that of males.The PG Ⅱ level increased with age while PG Ⅰ/PG Ⅱ decreased.The PG Ⅰ level rose gradually until age of 60 and then maintained at a high level.For the HP-positive group,the serum levels PG Ⅰ and PG Ⅱ were significantly higher than those of the HP-negative group.And the PG Ⅰ/PG Ⅱ ratio was significantly lower than that of the HP-negative group.

Objective　To study the clinical application of MRI in neonatal asphyxia.Methods　There were twenty-two cases of full term infants(≤one year old),they all had asphyxia during delivery.Transverse section on TSE T2-weighted,TSE T1-weighted and FLAIR sequences,and sagittal section on TSE T2-weighted were obtained on MRI.Results　The abnormal signal intensity in white matter on MRI were found in 15 cases.The volume of white matter was decreased in three cases.Subarachnoid spaces of frontal and temporal lobe were enlarged in two cases.Two cases were normal on MRI.Conclusion　We believed that the changes of the white matter of brain in neonatal asphyxia can be showed on MRI,it is of important significance for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Objective To study the feasibility of cerebral perfusion weighted imaging(PWI)using superparamagnetic iron oxide particles(SPIO)Resovist in normal rabbits,and investigate the methodology and the proper contrast agent dose of SPIO in PWI.Methods All 30 rabbits were randomly divide into 5 groups(n=6 for each),group A,B,C,D were divided according to the different dose of Resovist(4,8,16 and 32 μmol Fe/kg)and group E was operated as control study with 0.2 mmol/kg Gd-DTPA.The dynamic MR perfusion imaging series were acquired in each group.The signal intensity time curves were analyzed in gray matter and white matter,and the parameters(rCBV,SRRmax,QrCBV,QSRR max)were calculated and compared in all groups and correlated with control one.Results a bolus injection was succeed for all studies.and a dose-dependent strong reduction in signal intensity of gray and white matter in all groups was demonstrated.The rCBV values of gray and white matter for group A,B,C,D and E were(50.48±3.84),(25.57±2.10);(94.69±2.60),(45.33±3.14);(141.13±6.26),(67.67±4.65);(243.75±5.90),(162.06±5.14);and(84.60±3.60),(41.36±2.18)ml/100 g,respectively.The SRRmax values of gray and white matter for group A,B,C,D and E were(13.70±1.50)%,(7.38±0.41)%;(31.01±4.06)%,(16.49±2.35)%;(43.81±3.42)%,(21.64±4.14)%;(64.49±5.35)%,(43.61±5.78)%;and(27.78±2.98)%,(14.42±2.25)%;respectively.The QrCBV values for group A,B,C,D and E were 1.98±0.07,2.09±0.11,2.09±0.07,1.50±0.01,and 2.05±0.03,respectively,and the QSRR max values for group A,B,C,D and E were 1.85±0.11,1.88±0.06,2.06±0.25,1.49±0.09,and 1.94±0.12,respectively.All above values among group were significantly different(P＜0.01).For the QrCBV and QSRR max values between group,there were no significant difference between group A and B,B and C,A and C;while the values of group A was significantly larger than those of group D(P＜0.01).Condusion Resovist(SPIO)can be used in the study of MR perfusion weighted imaging in the brain,and the proper contrast agent dose is 4-16 μmol Fe/kg.

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of carbamylated erythropoietin(CEPO)on cardiovascular microcirculation in rats with diabetes mellitus. METHODS:Rats were randomly divided into blank control group,model group,CEPO low-dose,medi-um-dose and high-dose groups(500,1 000,2 000 u/kg)with 12 in each group. The rats in the last 4 groups were reduced diabetes mellitus model. All rats were given relevant medicine intragastrically twice a week,coronary microcirculation endothelial cells were separated after consecutive 4 weeks. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was conducted to detect levels of peripheral serum prosta-cyclin (PGI2),vasoconstrictor endothelin-1 (ET-1),angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ) and von Willebrand factor (vWF) of rats in each group;in vitro CCK 8 test was used to detect endothelial cell activity(OD value);real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction was adopted to detect proliferation-related genes(Ki67,p16),poptosis-related genes(Bad,Bax),and expressions of protein vas-cular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and AngⅠ. RESULTS:Compared with blank control group,levels of PGI2,ET-1,AngⅡand vWF in serum in model group increased;OD value deceased;Ki67,p16,Bax and VEGF expression decreased;the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared with model group,levels of PGI2,ET-1,AngⅡ and vWF in serum in CEPO low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose groups increased;OD value increased;Ki67,p16 and VEGF expression increased;expres-sions of Bad and Bax decreased;the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The others had no significant difference(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:CEPO maybe improve the coronary microcirculation function by upregulating VEGF expression in coro-nary microcirculation endothelial cells and promoting endothelial cells’regeneration.

Objective To observe the influence of endoscopic harvesting technique on the prevalence of leg-wound complications after coronary artery bypass grafting, and to assess histologically the potential trauma to the vein. Methods From August,2003 to August, 2005, 256 patients undergoing CABG had saphenous vein harvested by endoscopic harvesting system. About 4 mm proximal and distal vein end segment of 10 patient undergoing endosocopic and conventional harvesting respectively were examined with light and electro-microscope. Results The mean number of vein grafts of ESVH was 2.2 and the mean endoscopic harvest time was (45?20) minutes. There was no complication (incision infection, edema of lower extremity, lymphangitis and fat necrosis) occurred. Stay in bed time was 2～3 days. There was no difference in result of light and electro-microscopy. Conclusion Endoscopic vein harvesting in coronary artery bypass grafting can decreases the prevalence of postoperative leg-wound infections, postoperative pain, lying time and hospital stay, and increase the postoperative mobility ability, especially in patient with obesity and diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, the endoscopic harvesting technique may do no additional trauma to the saphenous vein.

Objective To establish the time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA) of total prostate specific antigen (tPSA) labeled with Sm 3+ and free prostate specific antigen (fPSA) labeled with Eu 3+ . Methods The monoclonal antibody (McAb) 101# was coated on the 96 well plates, anti-tPSA McAb 102# was labeled with Sm 3+ and anti-fPSA McAb 201# was labeled with Eu 3+ .The standard curves were given out by Log-Log_B function of the DEFIA instrument.The levels of PSA in sera from patients or healthy volunteers were determined by t/fPSA TRFIA using the autoDELFIA_ 1235 system.Results The measurement ranges of tPSA-TRFIA were 0.02-250 ?g/L and those of fPSA-TRFIA were 0.05-250 ?g/L. The within-run and between-run CVs of the tPSA-TRFIA were 2.38% and 3.91%, respectively, and those of fPSA-TRFIA were 3.16% and 3.34%, respectively. The recovery rates of tPSA-TRFIA and fPSA-TRFIA were 101.3% and 103.2%, respectively.The detection limitations of tPSA and fPSA were 0.05 ?g/L and 0.02 ?g/L,respectively.The average results of health group benign prostate disease patients,prostate cancer patients for tPSA were 1.4 ?g/L,4.3 ?g/L,14.2 ?g/L,and those of fPSA were 0.3 ?g/L,1.5 ?g/L,6.2 ?g/L.The cut-off point condition for benign prostate disease and malignant prostate cancer was tPSA

Objective To evaluate the value of Feridex in demonstrating small focal lesions of the liver on MRI and to discuss the optimal scan time after intravenous administration of Feridex. Methods Small focal lesions in the liver were found on ultrasound or CT in 17 patients. Conventional MR plain scan and Gd-DTPA enhanced scan were performed. One to three days later, T 2 weighted imaging was repeated at 0.5 h, 3 h, and 6 h after Feridex was administered intravenously over 30-40 min at a dose of 0.05 ml/kg. The pre- and post-contrast T 2WI were compared and analyzed in terms of lesion detectability and signal change. Results Twenty-one lesions with diameter smaller than 1 cm were found on the Feridex enhanced images, and only 8 lesions were found on the conventional MR images. The small hepatic cancers, focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH), and regenerated nodules had different signal changes on the Feridex images, which made the differential diagnoses easier. The signal of the liver decreased significantly (P0.05). Conclusion Fridex enhanced MR images could not only improve the detection of small focal lesions, but also provide evidence for differential diagnoses.
