Chinese Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 2016;23(5):267-268
OBJECTIVETo explore the influence of positional change speed on the recovery rate and discomfort degree of the patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.METHODSPatients with detailed records from September 2012 to September 2015 were reviewed. 358 patients were divided into quick maneuver (<2s) and slow maneuver (5-10 s) groups randomly based on the time of changing position. The maneuver was done by the same doctor. The discomfort degree during the maneuver was assessed by the visual analog scale.RESULTSThe effective rate of the quick and slow maneuver group is 97.7% and 97.2% respectively, there is no significant differences between the groups (P>0.05). The VAS is 7.70±3.95 and 5.18±3.56 respectively in the quick and slow maneuver group, there is significant differences between the groups (t=3.38,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Positional changing speed does not influence the recovery rate of the BPPV, while the slow maneuver can reduce the discomfort degree.
3.The development of multi-level diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(21):1922-1927
The obstruction of OSAHS patient is not limited to a single level. These blockages of multiple sites trend to influence each other and participate in a complex process. To date, the determination of obstruction is often depends on empirical judgment of clinician. However, it is a key issue to find out which level of obstruction is most significant. The article will focus on the commonly used values in laboratory examinations and their relationship with AHI. Based on the existing work, we decide to make a comprehensive analysis of their predictive value.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the incidence rate of nasal septum fracture and it's influence on the effect of nasal bone reduction. METHODS Retrospective analysis of 212 cases of nasal fracture compared with nasal septum deviation were carried out. Among these cases 112 treated with nasal bone reduction only was called group A; the other cases were treated with nasal reduction concomitantly with septoplasty. Among them 58 cases were diagnosed with nasal septum fracture, it was called group B; 42 cases were diagnosed with nasal septum deviation, it was called group C. The postoperative nasal deformity rate was assessed, and the intraoperative findings of nasal septum contrast with preoperative CT diagnosis was analysed. RESULTS Three months after the operation, 27 cases (24.1%) of nasal deformity were found in group A; 9(9.0%) cases of nasal deformity were found in group B+C; septum fracture was found in 58 cases (100%) in group B and 30(71.8%) cases in group C introperatively. The diagnosis rate of nasal septum fracture by CT was 58.0%, while it's incidence rate was 88.0%. CONCLUSION More nasal septum fractures were observed introperatively than CT findings, and septoplasty concomitantly with nasal bone reduction can obviously reduce the rate of nasal deformity.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2009;23(4):151-153
OBJECTIVE:
To report the experience with canalplasty during the operation of overlay tympanoplasty.
METHOD:
A retrospective review was performed on 56 patients (59 ears) that underwent tympanoplasty and canalplasty (part with intact canal wall mastoidectomy). Transcanal and postauricular incisions were made, and the posterior canal skin flap was elevated and fixed with retractor, while the anterior flap was freed. A drill was used to remove the anterior and inferior bone bulges and the adjacent bone to expose the tympanic sulcus and annulus adequately, and the epithelium of tympanic membrane remnant was removed thoroughly. After the eradication of the middle ear disease, temporal fascia was used as an overlay graft and the canal skin was replaced, and the gel-foam soaked in antibiotic and Dexamethasone solution was used to compress the canal. The patients began to use ear drops 1 week after surgery, and the gelfoam in canal lasted for 4-6 weeks.
RESULT:
Follow-up was conducted for 0.5-3.5 years respectively, all patients gained stage I incision cure, the external auditory canal was wide and tympanic membrane gained a good shape, the complications of skin flap necrosis, external canal stenosis and cholesteatoma pearl were not occurred.
CONCLUSION
Canalplasty was the necessary procedure in the operation of overlay tympanoplasty which could conduce to de-epithelization of the membrane, placement of fascia and prevention of the occurrence of cholesteatoma pearl.
