ObjectiveTo evaluate the effects of simvastatin on patients with transient ischemic attack (TIA) following carotid atherosclerotic plaque.Methods96 cases of TIA patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaque were randomly divided into simvastatin (statins) group and control group, 48 cases in each group. The statins group took simvastatin except routine therapy for 6 months, while the control group took Xuezhikang. The ultrasonic examination of carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and atherosclerosis area were carried out before and after treatment for both groups. The incident rates of cerebral vascular diseases within 6 months were compared between two groups.ResultsThe ultrasonic examination showed significantly thinning of carotid IMT and reducing of plaque area in statins group (P<0.05), while there wasn't significant difference in control group(P>0.05). The cerebral vascular incident rates in statins group were lower than in control group(P<0.05).ConclusionSimvastatin may be more effective for antiatherosclerotic function with bigger dosage and decrease ischemic cerebral vascular incidence.

Objective:To explore the clinicopathologic features of 112 patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Methods:Da-ta from 112 MCL cases were collected, and immunohistochemical assay was conducted. A break in the CCND1 gene was detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). The t-test was used in the statistical analysis. Results:All tumor cells in the 112 cases ex-pressed B cell-related antigen, including 1 blastoid subtype and 1 polymorphic subtype. Among all the cases, 106 expressed CD5 and 104 expressed cyclinD1. A break in the CCND1 gene was not found in 3 cases with CD5-MCL. IgH/CCND1 polyploid was found in 2 classical cases. Conclusion:MCL is a type of special immunophenotypic B-cell lymphoma. The prognoses of blastoid and polymorphic subtypes are poor. Special subtypes should be classified during diagnosis.

Objective To evaluate the intracranial arterial collateral blood flow pathways and the changes of hemodynamics. Methods A total of 29 patients with unilateral internal carotid artery occlusion were selected. In these cases, their ophthalmic arteries(OA) and cerebral arteries were observed using transcranial color Doppler ultrasonography (TCCD), color Doppler energy imaging(CDE) and contrast-enhanced color Doppler ultrasonography. Collateral pathways through the ill-lateral OA, anterior and ill-lateral posterior communicating artery(ACoA and PCoA, respectively) were demonstrated by reversal of blood flow in the ipsilateral OA, reversal of blood flow in the ipsilateral A1 segment of the anterior cerebral artery(ACA) or decrease of blood flow velocity in ipsilateral middle cerebral arteries (MCA) during contralateral common carotid artery(CCA) compression and the increase of blood flow velocity in ipsilateral P1 segment of the posterior cerebral artery(PCA) during ipsilateral CCA compression, respectively. Results ①Among 29 cases, bilateral OA of 29 patients(100%) and bilateral MCA, ACA and PCA of 16 patients ( 55.2 %) could be visualized by TCCD and CDE. The other 13 patients( 44.8 %) can be seen clearly only after contrast-enhanced color Doppler ultrasonography. ② There were intracranial arterial collateral blood flow pathways of 29 patients(100%) through OA, 24 patients( 82.7 %) ACoA and 2 patients ( 6.8 %) PCoA, respectively. ③ The blood flow velocity was higher in ill-lateral OA than in contralateral OA, but PI and RI lower( P

Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control 1989;0(04):-
Objective To study the genetic variation among Schistosoma japonicum from the mainland of China through the microsatellite investigation. Methods S.japonicum isolates were obtained from seven endemic provinces across the mainland of the People's Republic of China: Zhejiang (Jiashan), Anhui (Guichi), Jiangxi (Yongxiu), Hubei (Wuhan), Hunan (Yueyang), Sichuan (Maoshan,Tianquan), Yunnan (Dali), and also Sorsogon Province, the Philippines. DNAs from 20 individuals from each origin were screened against six recently isolated and characterized S.japonicum microsatellites, M5A, J5N, MF1, RRPS, 2AAA and MPA, which were selected based on their polymorphic information content. Results High levels of polymorphism were found between and within population samples, with Chinese and Philippine strains appearing to follow different lineages, and with distinct branching between the provinces. Moreover, across the mainland of China, genotype clustering appeared to be related to the habitat type and/or intermediate host morphology. Conclusion These results demonstrate the suitability of microsatellites for population genetic studies of S. japonicum and suggest that there may be different strains of S. japonicum in the mainland of China.
