Objective To study the opportunity and the clinical features of systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS) in children diseases.Methods A retrospective analysis was made for the clinical data of 1857 cases who was hospitalized in pediateics from January 2005 to December 2006 in this hospital.Results 169 cases (9.10%) was diagnosed as SIRS and 26 cases(15.38%) died of SIRS.There were 91 cases(53.85%) out of which died 7 cases(7.69%) of infectious disease and 78 cases(46.15%) out of which died 19 cases(24.36%) of non-in- fectious disease in 169 cases with SIRS.The mortality rate was higher in non-infectious disease than that of infec- tious disease.There was highly significant statistical difference( P

Objective To analyze features of clinical manifestation, electrophysiology, imageology and molecular ge?netics of familial carpal tunnel syndrome (FCTS), especially research progress in genetics. Methods Clinical data, labo?ratory and electrophysiologyical results as well as medical images were collected from the propositus. In addition, genetic analysis around peripheral neuropathy was performed on the proband, son of the proband and the affected relatives in the family. Result Patients showed a typical bilateral CTS with early onset. The mode of inheritance in this family was auto?somal dominant.. Gene sequencing revealed point mutations in INF2, KIF1B, TRPV4 and SCN9A. Besides, the possibili?ty of having hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsy(HNPP)or familial amyloidosis (FAP) was excluded by the molecular genetic studies. Conclusion Primary FCTS exists as a separate autonomic entity, which may be caused by other unknown genes and therefore warrants further exploration.

To investigate the effects of brachial plexus block(BPB) and satellite ganglion block(SGB) on the blood flow of upper limb, 22 patients were randomly divided into two groups,and given BPB(group A,n=11) or SGB(group B,n=11) with 1% lidocaine 10 ml every other day for 5 times. Ulnar-radial artery blood flow was measured by using a TCD 30 minutes before and after the block. Finger pulse amplitude was measured by pulse oximeter 5,10,15,20,30 minutes after the block.The average increase in ulnar-radial artery blood flow was 13 cm/s in group A and 5 cm/s in group B. Finger pulse amplitude increased by (9.04±2.12)mm in group A and(3.54±1.42)mm in group B.A significant difference was observed between the two groups (P＜0.01).It suggested that BPB could induce more increase in blood flow of the upper limb than SGB.

Objective:To establish adoptive transfer model mice of type 1 diabetes for investigating the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes.Methods:16 NOD.Scid mice were randomly divided into two groups.One was injected i.p. with splenocytes which were obtained from a diabetic NOD mouse and the other was injected with splenocytes obtained from a normal one.The blood glucose levels and weight were detected daily.The mice were killed when they had significant clinic appearance or 10 weeks after cell injection,followed by pathologic studies and cytokine assays.Results:The incidence of adoption group was 8/8 whereas that of control group was 0/8.The pathology scores of 2 groups were 2.5?0.2,0 separately.The amounts of IL-2,IL-10,IFN-? were 60.7 pg/ml,15.5 pg/ml and 20.2 ng/ml respectively in adoption group,and those in control group were 2.4 pg/ml,17.5 pg/ml,3.2 ng/ml.Conclusion:Model mice of type 1 diabetes can be established in NOD.Scid mice during the 5-10 week after adoptive transfer of splenocytes of diabetic NOD mice.

AIM: To investigate the effects of intermittent hypoxic exposure and normoxic convalescence on the parameter of erythrocyte and serum hypoxia inducible factor1 alpha (HIF-1α) and erythropoietin (EPO)levels. METHODS: Rat models of intermittent hypoxic exposure were established, combined with the clinical research on volunteers experiencing the intermittent plateau work. Blood samples for red blood cell (RBC) counts, hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (HCT) were collected, serum HIF-1α and EPO levels were measured using enzymelinked immunosorbentassy. RESULTS: RBC counts, Hb concentration and HCT were significantly higher than the normoxic group (P < 0.05), after exposure of rats to hypoxia from 7 to 28 days. Compared with the normoxic group, serum HIF-1α levels were higher in the group of IH3, 7, 14 days, and EPO had a corresponding increase in the group of IH3, 7 days. Then, a decrease was observed in parameter of erythrocyte and serum HIF-1α and EPO levels after 14 days normoxic convalescence treat. In volunteers studies, RBC counts in 8 monthes group and Hb concentration in 2 years group were significantly higher than the plain group (P < 0.05). The change of HCT was nearly the same as RBC, and HCT in 2 years group was higher than the plain group (P < 0.05). Compared with the plain group, EPO had no significant differences in any of plateau group. CONCLUSION: Intermittent hypoxic exposure can enhance serum hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha and erythropoietin levels and the generation of red blood cells, which leads to an increase in hemoglobincon concentration and hematocrit. The results have changed with the hypoxic exposure period prolonged. Normoxic convalescence after intermittent hypoxic exposure can make the related indexes reduced, and contribute to the organism recovery.

PAK2 can be activated by a variety of upstream signals, especially small G protein Rho family of Rac and Cdc42, and it participates in a variety of important signaling pathways and cell function regulation. Abnormal expression of PAK 2 has been reported in various tumors, which involves in cytoskeletal remodeling, cell motility, apoptosis, signal transduction, gene transcription, translation and angiogenesis. Therefore, PAK2 plays an important role in tumor occurrence and development. The study on PAK2 and the targeting therapy for anti-PAK2 provides a new sight on the treatment and prevention of tumor.

A strain of canine parvovirus (CPV) was isolated from feces of an ill puppy in an animal hospital in Wuhan, China. It was designated as CPV/WH02/06. This isolate was identified as serotype CPV-2a by the hemagglutination test, CPV Ag detection strip, electron microscopy, and PCR. The vp2 gene was cloned and sequenced and assigned GenBank accession number EU377537. A 1242 bp segment of the 5' region of the vp2 gene was cloned and inserted into the binary vector pBI121 and used for Agrobacterium-mediated tobacco transformation. Transgenic tobacco plants were selected on MS medium supplemented with 100 μg/mL kanamycin and 100 μg/mL timentin. Integration of the vp2 gene into the tobacco genome was confirmed by PCR using T1 progeny plants, and the expression of the VP2 protein was confirmed by Western blotting.
