1.Therapeutic effect of operation treatment on lumber intervertebral discprolapse
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2005;11(12):1039-1040
ObjectiveTo analyze the factors related to the operation treatment effectiveness of lumber intervertebral discprolapse.MethodsThe data of 442 patients with lumber intervertebral discprolapse and treated by operation were analyzed retrospectively.Results442 patients had results of excellent in 319 cases (70.3%), good in 89 cases (20.2%), fair in 27 cases (6%), and poor in 7 cases (3.5%), the rate of re-operation was 2.9% (13 cases).ConclusionThe operation treatment of lumber intervertebral discprolapse must be performed after having precise diagnosis, surgical operation adaptation and suitable operation methods and enhancing nursing and recovery should be taken after operation in order to get a satisfactory effectiveness.

This retrospective study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of X-ray and CT in diagnose of simple lumbar vertebral wedge.Thirty—two elderly patients with CT-confirmed simple lumbar vertebral wedge were analyzed retrospectively.Following X-ray examination,23 patients were found to have compression fracture, and 9 patients were diagnosed with simple lumbar vertebral wedge. Thus,CT scan may be more sensitive and specific than X-ray examination in the diagnosis of simple lumbar vertebral wedge after trauma in the elderly.

Objective To explore the job tasks and qualifications of midwives in China for the next five years. Methods Anonymous surveys were sent by email to 80 professionals to learn the job tasks and qualifications of midwives in China using the Delphi method. The recipients include senior midwives, nursing administrators and nursing educators, senior obstetricians and gynecology department chiefs,as well as health administrators. Results Learnt in the survey were the qualifications and job tasks of professional midwives in China for the next five years. The system concludes 77 job tasks of midwives, among which 31 items are supposed to be completed independently. Conclusion China should develop the midwife system as soon as possible, strengthen the midwife training and education, develop the midwife access system and the corresponding laws and regulations for midwives, standardize midwife management, clear the midwife qualifications and job tasks, formulate normative midwife promotion system, and realize the midwifery scientific management.

Objective:To explore the association between cognitive function and the level of gamma-amino-butyric acid(GABA)in anterior cingulate cortex(ACC)before and after treatment in patients with major depres-sion disorder. Methods:Totally 31 medication-naive patients with major depression disorder meeting the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition(DSM-5)and 33 normal controls were col-lected.Each eligible patient received treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor agents for 8 weeks. The MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery(MCCB)was used to evaluate the cognitive function.By means of 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy, anterior cingulate cortex GABA concentrations were measured. Results:At base-line,the concentration of ACC GABA relative to water(GABA+/W)was lower in the patient group than in the control group(P<0.05)and increased after treatment(P<0.05).ACC GABA+/W was negatively associated with verbal learning and visual memory score in patient group at baseline(correlation coefficient and P value were r=-0.40,P<0.05;r=-0.42,P<0.05,respectively).The ACC GABA+/W difference resulted of treatment in patient group was positively associated with the difference of working memory score and the difference of reasoning and problem-solving score(correlation coefficient and P value were r=0.58,P<0.05;r=0.66,P<0.05,respec-tively).Conclusion:The cognitive dysfunction of patients with major depression disorder may not be related to the degree of depression and anxiety. And improvement of cognitive function may be associated with increase of ACC GABA concentrations.

Bavachin is a dihydroflavonoid compound isolated from Psoralea corylifolia, and exhibits anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and lipid-lowering activities. Recent attention has gradually drawn on bavachin-induced apoptosis in many human cancer cell lines. However, the anti-cancer effects and related mechanisms in colorectal cancer remain unknown. Here, we investigated the effects of bavachin on colorectal cancer in vivo and in vitro. The results showed that bavachin inhibited the proliferation of human colorectal cancer cells and induce apoptosis. These changes were mediated by activating the MAPK signaling pathway, which significantly up-regulated the expression of Gadd45a. Furthermore, Gadd45a silencing obviously attenuated bavachin-mediated cell apoptosis. Inhibition of the MAPK signaling pathway by JNK/ERK/p38 inhibitors also weakened the up-regulation of Gadd45a by bavachin. The anticancer effect of bavachin was also validated using a mouse xenograft model of human colorectal cancer. In conclusion, these findings suggest that bavachin induces the apoptosis of colorectal cancer cells through activating the MAPK signaling pathway.
