Cancer Research and Clinic 2009;21(5):311-313,316
Objective To study the expression of Livin and its relationship with Caspase-3, FHIT in skin squamous cell carcinoma. Methods lmmunohistochemical assay was used to detect the expression of Livin, Caspase-3 and FHIT in 48 cases of sSCC, 20 cases of chronic ulcer and 12 cases of normal skin tissues. Results The rate of positive expression of Livin in SCC tissues was significantly higher than that in the chronic ulcer tissues and normal skin tissues (P <0.01). The rate of positive expression of Caspase-3 and FHIT in SCC tissues was significantly lower than that in the chronic ulcer tissues and normal skin tissues (P < 0.01).The expression of Livin and Caspase-3 had relationship with the lymphatic metastasis and histologic differentiation of SCC(P <0.05). The expression of Livin and Caspase-3 had not relationship with age, sex, the sizes of SCC (P >0.05). There was negative significant correlation between the expression of Livin and the expression of Caspase-3, FHIT. Conclusion There may be relationship between the abnormal expression of Livin and Caspase-3, FHIT and the occurrence, progression of skin squamous cell carcinomas. They may become a new method for preservation and treatment skin of squamous cell carcinomas.

Journal of Audiology and Speech Pathology 1998;0(03):-
Objective By researching the auditory brainstem response(ABR) latency and interpeak latency intervals before and after continuous positive airway pressure through the nares(nCPAP), the experiment explored the pathophysiological and anatomical basis of electric physiological change in patients with obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods The ABR of 45 OSAHS patients(90 ears) and control group(32 ears)was examined, the sleep of patients with OSAHS was monitored by polysomnography(PSG).The results of ABR before and after nCPAP were compared. Results 1.The latency of wave III? V and interpeak latency intervals of I-III,III-V,I-V of patients were longer than that of the control group.2.After nCPAP,wave III and interpeak latency intervals of I-III,III-V changed obviously. Conclusion 1.The OSAHS patients' auditory brainstem structure is impaired, which has relationship with high carbonic acid and low oxygen saturation. 2.Except wave III,produced by upper nucleus olivaris that is near the breathing center, effect of nCPAP on ABR of patients with OSAHS is not obvious.

Absctact: Objective To discuss the correlation between the TCM syndromes and the clinical pathological features of central air way non-small cell lung cancer.MethodsTCM syndromes were determined through inquiry and physical examination for 109 cases of lung cancer patients. Remaining specimens after excision and routine pathological examination were under HE staining for pathological diagnosis and study. The correlation between the TCM syndromes and the clinical pathological features was analyzed.ResultsThe histological types of central airway non-small cell lung cancer comprised squamous cell carcinoma (69/109, 63.3%), salivary type carcinoma (27/109, 24.8%), adenocarcinoma (10/109, 9.2%) and other rare carcinomas (adenosquamous, 2/109, 1.8%; sarcomatoid carcinoma, 1/109, 0.9%). The clinical and pathological features showed that the elderly, male, smoking patients most commonly suffered from squamous cell carcinoma, while the young, female, non-smoking patients suffered from salivary type carcinoma most frequently. The distribution characteristics showed that the qi-yin deficiency syndrome was most common in squamous cell carcinoma and salivary type carcinoma, accounting for 41.4% (29/70) and 40.7% (11/27) respectively; qi-deficiency and phlegm-dampness syndrome was most common in adenocarcinoma, accounting for 50.0% (6/12). TCM syndrome types were closely related to sex, to smoking history, and to Karnofsky score respectively, with statistical significance (P<0.05,P<0.01). The qi-yin deficiency syndrome was common in male, smoking patients, while the qi-deficiency and phlegm-dampness syndrome and yin-deficiency and heat-toxin syndrome were common in female and non-smokers. The qin-yin deficiency syndrome was common in patients of Karnofsky score≥60, and qi-deficiency and phlegm-dampness syndrome was most frequently found in <60 scores group. Conclusion The histological types of central air way non-small cell lung cancer are related to age, gender and smoking history of patients. Patients with different ages, genders and smoking histories distribute differently in TCM syndrome.

Objective To grasp the development of private hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from a macro level; To provide reference for stakeholders by analyzing the underlying database of TCM private hospitals. Methods By analyzing the TCM database of hospital health agency annual statement from“National Health Statistical Investigation System”, current status of TCM private hospitals were analyzed from the aspects of organization, personnel, beds, number of service, and patient burden. The developing level of TCM was reflected by comparison with public hospitals. Results By the end of 2013, there were 938 TCM private hospitals, accounting for about 26.13% of TCM hospitals. Average annual growth rate of beds, health technicians, outpatient visits, and discharged patients exceeded 10%, while the hospital degree, bed utilization ratio, physician burden, and average length of stay for discharge patients were only 70%of TCM public hospitals. Conclusion TCM private hospitals have achieved rapid development in the number of these indicators, but the service efficiency, scale and level are still far behind TCM public hospitals.

Objective To explore the feasibility and proper time of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC)for the treatment of gallstones complicated with acute biliary pancreatitis(ABP).Methods From January 1999 to August 2007,72 patients with gallstones complicated with ABP were treated with LC in our department.Among the patients, early LC was performed on 56 cases when their symptoms of pancreatitis were relieved, elective LC was carried out in 8 patients, while emergent LC was required in the other 8 patients because of failure of conservative treatment. Results The LC was successfully completed in all the cases with a mean operation time of 63 min(30-135 min),and a mean blood loss of 50 ml(20-230 ml).Intraoperative cholangiography was carried out in 5 patients,4 of them were diagnosed as having stones in the lower common bile duct, and were then cured by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)and endoscopic sphincterotomy(EST)after LC.Only one patient was converted to open surgery. No perioperative death,or postoperative biliary hemorrhage or leakage occurred in this series. After the operation, pathological examinations revealed multiple small or sand-like stones in the resected gallbladders. The patients were followed up for 2 months to 8 years(mean 19 months);during this period,no recurrent pancreatitis or cholelithiasis was found. Conclusions LC is feasible and safe for patients with gallstones complicated with acute pancreatitis at early stage if perioperative treatments has been properly carried out.Preoperative MRCP,intraoperative cholangiography, and postoperative EST are essential auxiliary techniques for the treatment.

To explore the effects of lipopolysaccharide binding protein (LBP) on toll like receptor 4 (TLR4) pathway in alveolar macrophages of acute lung injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rats. The TNF ?concentration, IL 1? and IL 18 mRNA expression in alveolar macrophages (AM?) from rats challenged with LPS or LPS + LBP or LPS+LBP+multi LBP antibody (mLBPab) were measured with ELISA and semi quantative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) respectively. The expression of TLR4 was determined with RT PCR and Western blot. The results showed that: the TNF ? concentration ,IL 1?, IL 18 mRNA expressions and TLR4 expression were increased significantly in the AM? stimulated with LPS +LBP compared with single LPS stimulation group. However, mLBPab blocked these effects. It is suggested that LBP could enhance the trans membrane transduction function of LPS via TLR4 in rat AM? and these might be the main reason that LBP could enhance the inflammatory activity of LPS, and LBP antibody could be used to alleviate such morbid conditions such as SIRS, acute lung injury, ARDS, and septic syndrome.

Objective To study the role of pro inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor?(TNF ?),interleukin 1beta(IL 1?),interleukin 6(IL 6) and anti inflammatory cytokines interleukin 4(IL 4),interleukin 10(IL 10),interleukin 13(IL 13) in acute lung injury(ALI). Methods Wistar Rats (200?50g) were randomly divided into the oleic acid(OA) and Lipoplysaccharide(LPS) induced lung injury experimental group and the only OA induced lung injury control group. The LPS(2mg/kg) was injected in rat's tail vein at the 1, 4, 12 and 24 hours after administration of OA(0.2ml/kg, iv). Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT PCR) were used to detecting the expression of TNF ?, IL 1?, IL 6 and IL 4, IL 10, IL 13 mRNA in the lung tissue of rats in two groups. Results The results showed that the peak expression of TNF ? and IL 1? mRNA at one hour after first hit by oleic acid, and IL 6 mRNA at four hours were observed. Others, such as IL 4, IL 10 and IL 13 mRNA, the highest levels in lung tissue at four hours after lung injury induced by oleic acid. Conclusions The results suggested that TNF ? and IL 1? are presenting early phase of ALI, and that IL 6 played its important role in delayed development. The over expression of anti inflammatory cytokines IL 4, IL 10 and IL 13 may be as a promoters rather than protectors in inflammatory amplification.
