This study is to investigate the authenticity between COLD and HOT natural attribute in the famous Chinese medicine formulas--Zuojinwan (Coptis-Evodia 6 : 1) and Fanzuojinwan (Coptis-Evodia 1 : 6) based on mice temperature tropism, and establish an objective method to estimate the difference of two natural attribute by using a cold/hot plate differentiating technology. The results indicated that the COLD nature Zuojinwan could decrease significantly the remaining rate of HOT-symptom rat on warm pad (P < 0.05). That was not notable to COLD-symptom rat. The interference result of COLD-HOT temperature tropism to COLD/HOT symptom rat in Fanzuojinwan was the reverse with the COLD nature Zuojinwan. Meanwhile, biochemical indicators which are relative to energy metabolism such as ATPase enzyme activity and total anti-oxidant capability (T-AOC), had corresponding change in the organism. In the study, the COLD and HOT natural tendency in Zuojinwan and Fanzuojinwan which were composed by the same herbs with different proportion could be expressed qualitatively, quantitatively, objectively and directly with applying animal temperature tropism, and be verified to philosophical idea of treating disease theory with "expelling heat with cold herbs and cryopathy requiring warm prescription", not "expelling heat with heat herbs and cryopathy requiring cold prescription" in ancient traditional Chinese medicine, which brings a new approach in investigation of the nature theory of traditional Chinese medicine.

Objective: To investigate the treatment efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of hepatic tumors and the relevant complications. Methods: A total of 343 patients with 778 hepatic tumors underwent ultrasound-guided RFA (582 procedures). There were 212 cases of hepatic cellular carcinoma (HCC) with 448 tumors, and the average largest diameter was 4.0 cm.Of all the patients, 63 (29.7%) were in the stage of Ⅰ-Ⅱ(UICC Systems) and 149 (70.3%) in stage of Ⅲ-Ⅳ(including 43 patients with tumor recurrence after surgical resection). There were 131 cases of metastatic liver carcinoma (MLC), with 330 metastases in the liver, the average diameter was 3.9 cm, and the liver metastases of 91 patients (69.5%) came from gastrointestinal tract. The patients were treated using the relatively standard protocol. Crucial attention must be paid to monitoring the abnormal changes in ultrasound images as well as the vital signs of the patients to find the possible hemorrhage and peripheral structure injury in time. The tumors were considered ablated successfully if no viability was found on enhanced CT within 24 hours or 1 month after RFA. The patients were followed up for 2 -62 months. Results: The ablation success rate for HCC was 95.5% (428/448 tumors), and the rate for MLC was 96.4% (318/330 tumors). The local tumor recurrence rates for HCC and MLC were 8.5 % (38/448 tumors) and 11.8 % (39/330 tumors), respectively. A total of 138 patients (40.2%) underwent repeated ablations for 2-11 times because of tumor recurrence or metastasis. The first, second and third years survival rates were 87.7% , 67.4% and 56.8% for HCC patients, 81.6%, 50.8% and 27.2% for MLC patients, respectively. The survival rate from 63 early-stage HCC patients were 92.9%,82.8% and 74.5%, respectively. The major complication rate in this study was 2.4 % (14 of 582 procedures). The complications which consisted of mechanical and thermal injuries usually occurred during or shortly after the RFA treatment. There were 5 hemorrhages, 1 colon perforation, 5 injuries of adjacent structures, 2 bile leakages and 1 skin burn. Conclusion: RFA, as a minimally invasive local treatment, has become an effective and relatively safety alternative for the patients of hepatic tumors, even of advanced live tumor, tumor recurrence, liver metastases which are unresectable or difficult to treat with traditional therapies. Knowledge about possible complications and their control may increase the treatment efficacy and help to promote the use of RFA technique.

Objective:
To understand the situation of neglect of preschool children in the urban area of Xi an under the background of multi child policy, so as to provide a reference for making effective prevention.
Methods:
In Novmber 2022, according to the multi stage stratified cluster sampling principle, 2 450 parents of children aged 3-6 years were randomly selected from 7 urban areas of Xi an to participate in the questionnaire survey. A questionnaire survey was conducted using the "Neglect Evaluation Norms of 3-6 Years Old (Preschool) Children in Urban Areas of China". SPSS 18.0 software was used for statistical description, Chi square test and variance analysis.
Results:
The total neglect rate of preschool children in the urban area of Xi an was 29.0% and the total neglect score was (37.58±8.44). There was no statistical difference in the neglect status of children in different grade groups ( χ 2/ F =1.61, 2.98, P >0.05). The neglect score of boys was higher than girls ( t =2.45, P <0.05). There was no statistical difference in the neglect rate and neglect score of boys and girls in other levels ( P >0.05); except for the significant difference in the neglect degree of medical treatment, education and safety ( t =2.01, 2.28, 2.02, P <0.05). The rate and score of neglect in multi-child families were higher than only-child families ( χ 2/ t = 13.68, -4.54, P <0.05). There were significant differences in the rate and degree of neglect of children with different birth order, which were "third and fourth-born>second-born>first-born" ( χ 2/ F = 10.84 , 2.79, P <0.05). The neglect rate and score of "single parent family" were significantly higher than that of "nuclear family" and "three-generation family" ( χ 2/ F =4.78, 2.79, P <0.05).
Conclusion
The neglect situation of preschool children in urban area of Xi an is still serious, especially in multi-child families. It should actively explore the risk factors and formulate effective intervention measures.

Journal of International Oncology 2019;46(1):54-56
Antioxidants are important substances in the body against oxidative stress, which can main-tain the balance of redox substances by reducing the content of reactive oxygen species in cells. Studies have shown that new antioxidants have significant inhibitory effects on the growth of urological neoplasms by inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, disturbing angiogenesis and metastasis of tumor cells. Antioxidants are of great value in the prevention and treatment of urinary system tumors and are expected to become new anti-tumor drugs.

Uncovering the functionally essential variations related to tumorigenesis and tumor pro-gression from cancer genomics data is still challenging due to the genetic diversity among patients, and extensive inter-and intra-tumoral heterogeneity at different levels of gene expression regulation, including but not limited to the genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptional levels. To minimize the impact of germline genetic heterogeneities, in this study, we establish multiple primary cultures from the primary and recurrent tumors of a single patient with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Multi-omics sequencing was performed for these cultures that encompass the diversity of tumor cells from the same patient. Variations in the genome sequence, epigenetic modification, and gene expression are used to infer the phylogenetic relationships of these cell cultures. We find the discrepancy among the relationships revealed by single nucleotide variations (SNVs) and transcriptional/epigenomic pro-files from the cell cultures. We fail to find overlap between sample-specific mutated genes and differ-entially expressed genes (DEGs), suggesting that most of the heterogeneous SNVs among tumor stages or lineages of the patient are functionally insignificant. Moreover, copy number alterations (CNAs) and DNA methylation variation within gene bodies, rather than promoters, are significantly correlated with gene expression variability among these cell cultures. Pathway analysis of CNA/DNA methylation-related genes indicates that a single cell clone from the recurrent tumor exhibits distinct cellular characteristics and tumorigenicity, and such an observation is further confirmed by cellular experiments both in vitro and in vivo. Our systematic analysis reveals that CNAs and epigenomic changes, rather than SNVs, are more likely to contribute to the phenotypic diversity among subpop-ulations in the tumor. These findings suggest that new therapeutic strategies targeting gene dosage and epigenetic modification should be considered in personalized cancer medicine. This culture model may be applied to the further identification of plausible determinants of cancer metastasis and relapse.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2021;37(2):361-377
Exoelectrogenic microorganisms are the research basis of microbial electrochemical technologies such as microbial fuel cells, electrolytic cells and electrosynthesis. However, their applications are restricted in organic degradation, power generation, seawater desalination, bioremediation, and biosensors due to the weak ability of biofilm formation and the low extracellular electron transfer (EET) efficiency between exoelectrogenic microorganisms and electrode. Therefore, engineering optimization of interaction between exoelectrogenic microorganisms and electrode interface recently has been the research focus. In this article, we review the updated progress in strategies for enhancing microbe-electrode interactions based on microbial engineering modifications, with a focus on the applicability and limitations of these strategies. In addition, we also address research prospects of enhancing the interaction between electroactive cells and electrodes.

Objective To investigate the association between gallstones (GS) and metabolic syndrome (MS) in southern Xinjiang, China, and to provide experience for the prevention and control of metabolic diseases in southern Xinjiang. Methods The patients with GS who visited First Division Hospital, Second Division Korla Hospital, and Third Division Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps from March 2015 to March 2019 were enrolled as case group, and cluster sampling was used to select the individuals who underwent physical examination in Third Division 51st Regiment Hospital during the same period of time were enrolled as control group. According to inclusion and exclusion criteria, 1140 cases were enrolled in each group after 1∶ 1 matching based on age and sex. The t -test was used for comparison of continuous data between two groups, and the chi-square test was used for comparison of categorical data between two groups; a logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the influencing factors for GS. Dummy variables were included by logistic regression to evaluate multiplicative interaction between MS components, and the parameter estimate and covariance matrix of the logistic regression model and interaction calculation table were used to calculate and evaluate additive interaction between MS components. Results The risk of GS in MS patients was 2.33 times that in non-MS patients (odds ratio [ OR ]=2.33, 95% confidence interval [ CI ]: 1.86-2.92). In addition, the components of MS also increased the risk of GS, including blood glucose ( OR =2.94, 95% CI : 2.36-3.68), blood pressure ( OR =1.50, 95% CI : 1.26-1.80), blood lipids ( OR =1.48, 95% CI : 1.25-1.75), and body mass index ( OR =1.44, 95% CI : 1.21-1.70). After adjustment for multiple factors, the risk of GS gradually increased with the increase in the number of metabolic abnormalities, i.e., one abnormality ( OR =1.55, 95% CI : 1.22-1.99), two abnormalities ( OR =2.13, 95% CI : 1.66-2.72), three abnormalities ( OR =3.48, 95% CI : 2.59-4.69), and four abnormalities ( OR =4.65, 95% CI : 2.79-7.84). No additive or multiplicative interaction was found between MS components. Conclusion GS is closely associated with MS in southern Xinjiang, and the risk of GS gradually increases with the increase in MS components. No additive or multiplicative interaction is found between GS and MS components.
