3.OBSERVATIONS ON EVOKED SPINAL POTENTIALS IN EXPERIMENTAL ACUTE SPINAL CORD TRAUMA
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1983;0(S1):-
The evoked spinal potentials (ESPs) of cats were observed in this experiment. 29 animals weighing 2 to 3.5kg were Used, and divided into three groups:I, control and general observations; II, acute contusion of spinal cord; III, spinal cord compression and decompression. In each mode of trauma. the intensity of traumatizing factor included three different levels. The normal lumbar segmental ESPs consist of two predominant components: N1 and N2 wave, within the first 20 msec after stimulation artefact. Preceding to N1 was a positive wave P1. From a series of tests, it was suggest N1 is related to the activity of dorsal part of cord and N2 is related to the activity of dorsal as well asventral part of cord. After the transection of spinal cord at L4-5, the ESPs recorded rostral to that site disappeared and were replaced by a single positive wave, the so called "killed end" potential.Immediately after cord contusion, the P1-N1 components of ESPs of traumatized portion disappeared and were replaced by a single positive wave, and simu-1 tenously, the N2 diminished or flattend. If the impacting energy level was lower, the N1 or both N1 and N2 reappeared, and gradually increased their amplitude with the improvement of peak latency of N1 which was abnormally prolonged in the earlier hours of recovery.During cord compression both N1 and N2 of ESPs at the compressed portion decreased their amplitude with the peak latency of N1 prolonged. N2 disappeared earlier than N1 and finally only a single positive wave was left. If the compression time was shorter, both N1 and N2 might reappear after decompession, and the trend of recovering their original amplitude and peak latency was shown.Data proved that changes of ESPs may be used as the indicator of the viability of the traumatized spinal cord. The transient disappearance of ESPs would not indicate that the cord function coud not get recovery. On the other hand dying out of ESPs for several hours or even longer might reflect the serious-damage of cord function. The results of this experiments also suggested that N1 and N2 have different implications in reflecting the mechanisms of injuries.
4.ANATOMICAL AMD PHYSIOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE PROXIMAL CARPAL ROW AND DIOMECHANICAL DISCUSSI ON ON SOME PROBLEMS OF WRIST INJURIES
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1982;0(01):-
Based on the analysis of anatomic, biomechanically experimental materials and clinical cases of wrist injuries between 1978 to 1982 in Changzheng Hospital, a general biomechanical concept about the function of proximal carpal row (PCR) and the significance of PCR to the wrist injury is established. An investigation of the kinematics and dynamics of the scaphoid was particularly conducted so that a rationale about which wrist posture is the best one on externally fixing the limb with scaphoid frac-ture was presented.
5.EFFECTS OF OIL OF PIPER LONGUM UNSAPONIFIABLE MATTER ON CHOLESTEROL METABOLISM IN EXPERIMENTAL HYPERCHO-LESTEROLEMIC MICE
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(06):-
Exogenous hypercholesterolemia in mice was induced by feeding with diets containing 2% cholesterol. It was found that Oil of Piper Longum Unsaponifiable Matter ( OPUM ) at 40mg/kg?d-1 ig for 20d could reduce the levels of total cholesterol (TC). ( LDL + VLDL) - c and the hepatic cholesterol content, increase that of biliary cholesterol in exogenous hypercholesterolemic mice. The hypocholesterolemic effect of OPUM is in a dose-dependent manner over the range of 20~40mg/kg. OPUM at 40mg/kg ig could elevate Lecithin - Cholesterol Acyltransferase ( LCAT ) activity inhibited by treating with ip of yolk. It was suggested that the hypochole-sterol effect of OPUM could be concerned with protectiong cholesterol esterification and be of great advantage to protection from arteriosclerosis arteriosclerosis in mice.
6.Experimental study of treating corneal alkali burns with ?_2-macroglobulin
Ophthalmology in China 1994;0(02):-
The study aimed to search for a new, rapid and effective treatment of ocular alkali burns, and a new free radical scavenging agent. Experimental corneal alkali burns in rabbits were treated with highly purified ?_2-maeroglobulin drops extracted from rabbit plasma. On the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th day after the burn, examinations of the outer eye were done, On the 2nd, 7th, and 14th day, samples of aqueous humor were drawn to test for theirtotal SOD content. On the 7th and the 14th day the total aqueous protein was also determined. The results showed that on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day after the burn, mixed congestion in the experimental group animals was markedly milder than that in the the control group, and on the 2nd and 3rd day, opacity and swelling of the cornea were also less severe in the experimental group. On the 2nd, 7th, and 14th day the tot al aqueous SOD contents of the experimental group were all higher than those of the eontrol samples, but the total aqueous protein which was determined twice showed no statistical significance in the two groups of animals, It was concluded that ?_2-macroglohulin had a marked inhibitory effect on the acute inflammatory reaction of the rabbit corne of alkali burns, and that it also had the power of doing away with superoxide free radieals in the damaged tissue and their metabolites.
7.THE AFFERENT PROJECTIONS OF THE HABENULAR NUCLEI IN THE RAT——A WGA-HRP STUDY
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
WGA-HRP was iontophoretically delivered into the habenular nuclei in 40 rats to observe the distribution of the retrograde labeled cells; and into the entopeduncular nucleus(EPN), lateral preoptic area(LPO), medial preoptic area(MPO), nucleus septalis fimbriatis(SF), nucleus triangularis septi(TS), nucleus tractus diagonalis (Broca)(DBN)and lateral hypothalamic area(LHA) in 12 rats to observe the distribution of the orthograde labeled fibers in the habenular nuclei. It was found that the afferents of various parts of the habenular nuclei were different. The lateral habenular nucleus mainly recieves the afferents from the EPN, LPO and LHA, and the medial habenular nucleus from the SF, TS and LHA. Furthermore, the lateral habenular nucleus can be divided into medial and lateral parts, the medial habenular nucleus can be divided into medial and lateral parts as well, their afferent connections are also different.
8.THE EFFERENT PROJECTIONS OF THE HABENULAR NUCLEI IN THE RAT---A WGA-HRP STUDY
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1954;0(02):-
WGA-HRP was iontophoretically delivered into various parts of the habenular nuclei (the lateral segment of the lateral habenular nucleus LHb-L, the medial segment of the lateral habenular nucleus LHb-M, and the medial habenular nucleus MHb) in 40 rats to study the route and distribution of the anterograde labeled fibers and terminals in the brain. The efferent projections of the habenular nuclei follow three routes, the rostral, contralateral and caudal pathways. Along the rostral pathway fibers leave the lateral habenular nucleus, follow the stria medullaris thalami rostrally, and distribute to the thalamic dorsomedial nucleus, paratenial nucleus and lateral preoptic area. Fibers from the contralateral pathway distribute to the opposite lateral habenular nucleus by way of the commissura habenularum Fibers in the caudal pathway originate mainly from the MHb and LHb-M, and distribute to the interpeduncular nucleus with a dorsoventral topographic localization. In addition some of the caudal efferent fibers run caudally and terminate in the raphe nuclei and reticular formation etc.
9.OBSERVATION ON THE SEXUAL BEHAVIOR AND PHYSICAL STRENGTH OF MICE AFTER TUEAL OBSTRUCTION
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 1986;0(04):-
The effect of tubal obstruction on sexual behavior and physical strength has been observed in mice. The appearance of vaginal plug was used as an index of coitus and the interval that the mice could swim in the water tank till death as an index of physical strength. There was no significant differences between the operation group and the control group. Besides, the oestrous cycle still appeared regularly in the operation group. It shows that the tubal obstruction may not affect the normal sexual behavior, physical strength and the ovarian function
10.The definition and delineation of lymph nodes regions of lung cancer on CT transections
China Oncology 2000;0(06):-
Background and purpose:Patients with lung cancer often have metastases to the mediastinal and/or hilar lymph node.Three dimensional conformal radiation therapy(3-DCRT) has been used for the treatment of lung cancer. The delineation of the lymph nodes metastasis based on CT transections may be variable from doctor to doctor. It is necessary to standardize the definition of lymph nodes regions on CT scans. Methods:Retrospective studies were performed with the enhanced CT scans and/or PET/CT imaging of patients with NSCLC before treatment from November 2004 to November 2005.A series of thoracic enhanced CT scans from a middle stature female was selected as the model.Positive mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes were marked as red points on the CT model according to its relative position.Based on standardized definition of regional lymph nodes and the actual metastasized regional nodes on the images, the boundaries were delineated by Adobe Photoshop CS software and the metastasized regional lymph nodes were delineated on the Exomio 2.0 system. Results:Forty patients with enhanced CT data were enrolled in this study.Ten cases also underwent PET/CT examination. There were 278 positive lymph nodes that were detected and marked on the CT model. We defined the boundaries of regional lymph nodes of Group 1-2R,1-2L,3A,3P,4R,4L,5,6,7,8,10-11R and 10-11L,and delineated the above regional lymph nodes on template of CT model. Conclusions:Clear definition of mediastinal and hilar lymph region boundaries on CT images provides guidelines for the clinical staging of lung cancer and the contouring nodal drainage for 3-DCRT.It is essential to make target volumes more repeatable with good conformity in contour for conformal irradiation, which would benefit the clinical diagnosis, staging and therapy of lung cancer.
