This study was aimed to compare the difference of parameters of texture feature in the transverse section images of the same and different Chinese herbal medicine. A total of 26 parameters of herbal medicines were ex-tracted by gray-level co-occurrence matrix and grayscale gradient matrix. The graph of mutative curve was drawn. And differences of 26 parameters of texture feature in the same and different Chinese herbal medicine were com-pared. The results showed that parameters of texture feature extracted by gray-level co-occurrence matrix and grayscale gradient matrix had similarities and differences in the same and different Chinese herbal medicine. It was concluded that the method can show the texture feature scientifically and quantitatively. It also laid a foundation for the establishment of an automatic identification model, but the parameters still had instability. All these remind us to find some parameters which can show the details of texture feature preferably, thus perfect the extracted method of texture features in Chinese herbal medicine.

This study was aimed to explore the impact of integrality of Chinese herbal medicine on parameters of tex-ture feature in transverse section images. Three Chinese herbal medicine of Semen Arecae, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei and Radix A tractylodis Macrocephalae with different texture features were taken as research materials. Parts of Chi-nese herbal medicine were cut off from the whole by equal proportions. The 26 parameters were extracted by gray-level co-occurrence matrix and grayscale gradient matrix. The similarities and differences of 26 parameters of texture feature in the parts and whole, rectangular and fan-shaped Chinese herbal medicine were compared. The results showed that parameters of Semen A recae and Radix et Rhizoma Rhei with radial or annular texture had better con-sistency in whole and fan-shaped parts. Parameters of Radix A tractylodis Macrocephalae with irregular texture fea-ture were approximately the same in the whole and rectangular parts. It was concluded that whether parameters of texture features in parts Chinese herbal medicine can present the whole were related to its texture feature and the shape of the parts. This study provided the basis for collection of Chinese herbal medicine when sampling images. It also laid a foundation for the extraction of accurate parameter of texture feature.

Objective To study the effects of planting soil on active ingredients in different organs of Lonicera japonica Thunb.. Methods The contents of active ingredients in Lonicera japonica Thunb. from different origins, different varieties and different organs, such as chlorogenic acid, luteoloside, total flavonoids, total phenolic acid, and soil nutrient and inorganic elements, were detected. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 19.0 software. Results Lonicera japonica Thunb. from Pinyi area in Shandong Province had the highest content of active ingredients. In terms of content of active ingredients, PY-HBRD-1 was the most suitable variety in the Pingyi area. Analysis on the correlation between planting soil and active ingredients showed that the contents of K, Mn and other elements could be used as the index for quality control of Lonicera japonica Thunb.. Conclusion This study could provide guidance for selection of varieties of Lonicera japonica Thunb. in different planting areas, and enrich the materials about researches on producing area of Lonicera japonica.

This study was aimed to investigate the impact of rotation sampling on feature parameters of texture im-ages of Chinese herbal medicine. Four Chinese herb medicine with various shape and texture feature were taken as research materials. Images of complete and incomplete herbal medicine were collected respectively after different ro-tation angles. The 26 parameters were extracted by gray-level co-occurrence matrix and grayscale gradient matrix. The impact of rotation sampling on feature parameters was investigated through analysis of variation tendency and range of 26 parameters. The results showed that if the Chinese herbal medicine was complete, the 26 parameters were not impacted by the rotation angle, whereas the 26 parameters were impacted by the rotation angle and the im-pact will be more obvious when the shape of Chinese herb medicine was irregular. It was concluded that in order to get a high quality of images and construct a well identification model based on the parameter of texture features, we must consider the impact of rotation angle on the parameters to Chinese herbal medicine with various shapes and tex-ture features.

Objective To investigate the radiosensitiation effect of berberine on human nasopharyngeal carcinoma ( NPC) in hypoxia condition and explore the underlying mechanisms. Methods MTT assay, clonogenic assay and flow cytometry were performed to analyze cell proliferation, colony formation and apoptosis, respectively. Male nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with CNE-2 cells were used to examine the radiosensitization effect of berberine in vivo. The expressions of HIF-1α and VEGF were assessed by Western blot. Results Berberine efficiently inhibited the proliferation of CNE-2 cells in time-dependent and dose-dependent fashions with an IC50 of ( 14?9 ± 2?2 ) μmol/L. Clonogenic survival assay showed that berberine ( 5 μmol/L ) sensitized CNE-2 cells to ionizing radiation in hypoxia and its SERD0 was 1?27. Under hypoxic condition, berberine alone (5, 15 μmol/L) could induce apoptosis (t=5?01, 9?02,P<0?05) and it further promoted 8 Gy radiation-induced apoptosis (t =5?31, 9?91,P <0?05). Moreover, berberine significantly delayed the tumor growth in the combination group (berberine +irradiation) compared with the mice received irradiation alone or PBS (t =2?96, 14?52, P <0?05). Immunobloting assay showed that berberine inhibited the upregulation of HIF-1α and VEGF induced by hypoxia in CNE-2 cells. Conclusion Berberine confers radiosensitivity on hypoxic NPC in vitro and in vivo, which is probably associated with the downregulation of HIF-1α and VEGF expressions.

This paper was aimed to discuss the application of content management system (CMS) Drupal in Chinese medicine information fusion. The modular functionality, scalability and strong management capabilities of Drupal can effectively manage and reasonably present information resources of Chinese medicine, which extended the application of Chinese medicine information fusion. Regarding CMS Drupal as the carrier of Chinese medicine information fusion, the Chinese medicine information fusion method can be used in the collection, organization and demonstration of Chinese medicine information in the platform. As one of network tools for Chinese medicine information fusion, Dru-pal will play its powerful function in content management and information publishing with the virtual technology. It will also enrich Chinese medicine information fusion, and promote the spread of Chinese medicine knowledge.

Objective: To systematically explore the effect and mechanism of traditional Chinese herbs in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Methods: Magnolia flower, xanthium fruit, astragalus root, paniculate cynanchum, scutellaria root, cicada molting, stephania root, small centipeda herb, and licorice root as traditional Chinese herbs are widely used to treat allergic rhinitis. With multiple database integration and entity grammar systems, a mo-lecular interaction network of traditional Chinese herbs for treating allergic rhinitis was established. Bioinformatics approaches were adopted to integrate relevant data and biological information by mul-tiple databases. Molecular interaction network of Chinese herbs for treating allergic rhinitis was con-structed based on entity grammar systems model. The network was then used for elucidating the anti-allergic rhinitis mechanism of the Chinese herbs on the molecular level. The subnetworks were also extracted to explicitly display the pathway and targets where effective components acted on. Results: Traditional Chinese herbs could influence various pathological aspects in allergic rhinitis including the production of pro-inflammatory substances, such as histamine and cytokine interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-13 (IL-13), lowering immunoglobulin E (IgE) level or blocking antigen binding, altering the biological processes of IgE, modulating the balance of T helper (Th) or other cells by cell proliferation and differentiation, mediating cell-cell signaling and second-messenger-mediated signaling, stabilizing the cell membrane, and affecting regulation of cellular defense response. Conclusion: The research theoretically confirms the mechanism of anti-allergic rhinitis by traditional Chinese herbs, provides important fundamental research information for treatment of allergic rhinitis, and may serve as a reference for new drug development and effective ingredients of compatibility.
