International Eye Science 2015;(1):169-171
Abstract? AlM: To study the effect of pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell on visual acuity and refractive status.?METHODS:A total of 120 cases ( 178 eyes ) pterygium cases were enrolled in our hospital from March 2012 to May 2014 and divided into observation group ( 60 cases, 90 eyes) and control group (60 cases, 88 eyes) according to different treatment methods. Patients in observation group received pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation, those in control group received pterygium excision. Vision levels, astigmatism degrees were compared. The effects of age, working environment and medial rectus muscle insertion distance from corneal limbus on postoperative visual acuity were analyzed.? RESULTS: Before operation, acuity levels and astigmatism degrees of two groups had no difference ( P>0. 05 ); 1, 2 , 3, 4wk after operation, visual acuity in observation group were higher than that in control group (0.49±0.09 vs 0.34±0.07, 0.76±0.11 vs 0.42±0.04, 0.95± 0. 14 vs 0. 59±0. 08, 1. 09±0. 18 vs 0. 74±0. 10), astigmatism degrees were lower than that in control group (0. 96±0. 12 vs 1. 85±0. 28, 0. 68±0. 08 vs 1. 51±0. 23, 0. 54±0. 08 vs 1. 23± 0.19,0.42±0.07 vs 0.91±0.14); visual acuity of patients older than 45 years old, indoor work, medial rectus muscle insertion distance from corneal limbus 3-5 mm were higher, astigmatism degrees were lower.?CONCLUSlON:Pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation is helpful to improve visual acuity and astigmatism degree; recovery of visual acuity is affected by age, working environment and medial rectus muscle insertion distance from corneal limbus.
2. Evaluation of hemodynamics with perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in patients with cerebral vasospasm after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage
Chinese Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2011;8(3):119-124
Objectives: To observe the changes of cerebral blood flow parameters showed by perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (PWI) in patients after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and to investigate the correlation between cerebral hemodynamics and cerebral vasospasm ( CVS ). Methods: A total of 38 patients with aSAH ( ≤7 d) were selected for cerebral angiography. The severity of CVS was observed and PWI was performed. The parameters of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) , regional cerebral blood volume (rCBV) , mean transit time (MTT) , and time to peak (TTP) were collected in the territories of anterior cerebral artery, middle cerebral artery, and basal ganglia. The correlation between these parameters and CVS was analyzed. Results: DSA showed that 28 of the 38 patients had vasospasm at least in one branch, 9 of them had mild vasospasm; 10 had moderate vasospasm, and 9 had severe vasospasm; 10 did not find any CVS. Circled digit twoAs compared with the control group, the rCBF and rCBV in ACA, MCA, and BSGL territories in the severe vasospasm group were decreased, and there were significant differences ( P < 0.05 to P < 0.01 ) , while the rCBF and rCBV in all the blood supply territories in the non-, mild, moderate, and severe vasospasm groups had a tendency of reduction, however, the degrees of reduction were different. As compared with the control group, the TTP and MTT had an increasing tendency in the ACA, MCA and BSGL territories in the mild, moderate, and severe vasospasm groups; among them, there was significant difference between the moderate and severe vasospasm groups ( P < 0. 05 to P < 0.01). Circled digit threeThe severity of CVS was negatively correlated with rCBF and rCBV, and it was positively correlated with TTP and MTT. Conclusions: PWI may quantitatively provide the information of cerebral blood flow perfusion. Among the parameters of rCBF, rCBV, TTP, and MTT in all the blood supply territories collected by PWI, the parameters of TTP and MTT had better consistency with the severity of CVS.

ObjectiveTo study the rationale of breast-conserving therapy (BCT) for the treatment of early-stage breast cancer. MethodsFrom March 1994 to March 1995, 25 cases of early-stage breast cancer were treated with BCT. The indication was (1) tumor size 3.0 cm; (3) preoperative mammograms were performed in order to exclude multifocal cancer and the tumor with extensive calcification. Tumors were removed with at least 2 cm normal breast tissue margin (evaluated by frozen biopsy), and the axillary nodes were dissected in levels 1 and 2. Two weeks postoperatively patients were treated with radio-therapy to control possible microscopic residual foci. The breast cosmetic results and quality of life (QOL) were analyzed. ResultsAll cases were followed-up for an average of 64.1 months. No differences at 5 year′s survival and local recurrence were found between patients undergoing BCT and those with radical mastectomy.ConclusionThe result of early-stage breast cancer treated with breast-conserving therapy is satisfactory, this therapy is superior to radical mastectomy in terms of improving QOL under condition of strict patient selection and plan design.

AIM To compare the effects of micronised fenofibrate with those of standard fenofibrate on regulating serum lipid. METHODS Wistar rats were fed by the hyperlipids food to induce hypolipidemia, and then orally treated with 20,30,40 mg?kg -1 per day micronised fenofibrate and 20,30,40,60,80 mg?kg -1 per day standard fenofibrate for 10 days. At the tenth day, serum total cholesterol and triglycerides were measured. RESULTS 1 In the same experimental conditions, the minimal efficacious dose of the micronised fenofibrate is 30 mg?kg -1 , but that of the standard fenofibrate is 80 mg?kg -1 ; 2 Using efficacious doses, both kinds of fenofibrate could decrease the content of triglyceride to normal level. They also could decrease the level of total cholesterol by 36 69%~51 56%. CONCLUSION The effects of micronised fenofibrate are better than those of standard fenofibrate, which mainly decreases the level of triglyceride. Micronised fenofibrate also decreases level of serum total cholesterol.
