1.A survey of diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance in Shanxi,Beijing and Liaoning,north China 1989
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 1993;0(00):-
In 1989 ,a general survey of diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance(IGT) in 44 747 Shanxi peasants,as well as Beijing and Liaoning workers and cadres revealed that the prevalence rate of diabetes and IGT was 2. 02% and 2. 95 % respectively. The former was greatly increased in comparison with that in 1979. The prevalences of diabetes and IGT in Beijing and Liaoning were much higher than in Shanxi, where the caloric-intake and the percentages of overweight and obesity in peasants were much lower. The prevalence rate of diabetes and IGT increased with age,with the peak in 60s. Most of patients with diabetes or IGT were non-obese, but it was significantly higher in overweight or obesity groups. These indicate that aging,lack of physical exercise,overeating and obesity are major factors in increasing the prevalence rate of diabetes mellitus and IGT. A significant difference in prevalence rate of diabetes between male and female was found. Its cause and significance need further study.
2.Experimental Studies of Acute and Subchronic Toxioity in Rivanol
Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 1988;0(03):-
The toxioity of rivanol(home product)in animals was investigated according to the standard in Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Acute toxicity ,subacute toxicity and cumulative toxicity in mice,sensi-tization in guinea pigs and subchronic toxicity in dogs were tested. In acute toxicity test,the LD50 (IV)was 18. 494?2. 90mg/kg,which belonged to be a moderate toxic substances. When the dose was 1mg/kg,no toxic effect was observed in any animal. When the dose(IV)increased to 5mg/kg, mild degeneration and focal necrosis of cells,infiltration of inflammatory cells and proliferation of Kuffer'cells were shown in liver of mice while no toxic effect was observed in dogs. In cumulative toxicity test,the LD50 was 19. 3mg/kg which was more than Ld50 suggested that there was some tolerance and cumulative toxicity effect might not be present in mice. There was no sensitization showed in guinea pigs when rivanol was given via abdomenal administration.
3.SERUM SIALIC ACID, FUCOSE AND ACUTE PHASE PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH NASOPH ARYNGEAL OR LARYNGEAL CARCINOMA
Peijun CHEN ; Al ET ;
Journal of Chongqing Medical University 1986;0(04):-
Serum concentrations of sialic acid, fucose, prealbumin(PA ), ?1-antitrypsin (?1-AT), ?1-acid glycoproteins(?1-AGP), haptoglobin (HP) and transferrin (TF) were measured in 94 nasopharyngeal carcinoma and 65 cancer of larynx. Statistical evalution was made with stepwise discriminant analysis, and the discriminant functions were obtained. The effectiveness of allocation were examined on every one of all patients in the original data, Our results suggested, with the discriminant function equation consisting of serum PA, ?1-AT, ?1-AGP, HP and TF concentrations we could best separate the patients sufferng from nasopharyngeal or laryngeal carcinoma from the normal; the effective rate of discriminant was 87.36% and 88% for nasopharyngeal carcinoma from normal and laryngeal carcin-oma from normal respectively. However using discriminant function equation,composed of serum sialic acid, PA and ?1-AT, we could also discriminate nasopharyngeal or laryngeal carcinoma with recurrence from the one with non-recurrence, the effective rate of discriminant was 93.1% and 80% for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and cancer of larynx respectively
4.The X-Ray Diagnosis and Interventional Therapy of Arterio-Partal Shunt in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Songzhang WANG ; Et Al ;
Journal of Interventional Radiology 1992;0(01):-
In this paper, we reported the radiographic characteristics of arterio-portal shunt in 59 cases with hepatocellular carcinoma. All eases were arbitrarily divided into three types, the peripheral, central, and mixed. The angiographic manifestations of all types were described in detail with emphases on discusion of the mechanism of the pormation of arterio-portal shun, and the orientation of interventional approach. We suggested that active and solemn attitude should be taken but with different ways be considered rather than ignoring it, for obtaining the positive results.
5.Preliminary immunopathological study in alopecia areata
Jingzhen ZHANG ; Et Al ;
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1984;0(01):-
Studies of the scalps from 42 patients with alopecia areala are given,using direct immunofluorescence ( DIP).Langerhans cells (LC)and T-lyrn hocytc subsets are observed.There is no significant difference between the number of OKT6 cells and Ia+ cells in the epidermis of all groups and the control.LC is seen in hair-bulb in many patients and most frequently in active stage.The main change of LC in hair follicle is increasing of T6+Ia- cells,not significant of T6+Ia+ cells.Most of the infiltrates around the hair follicles are T( OKT3+) cells.T4+cells number and T4/T8 ratio in active arc larger than in resting and recovering stages.DIF shows 88% of the patients having deposits of C3,IgG,and IgM.This suggests that alopecia areata may be the disorder of immnue associated with cellular and humoral immunity.
6.The experimental studies of cardioplasty and total fundoplication on dogs
Shizhi FAN ; Et Al ;
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1984;0(02):-
The aims of this study are to obtain a suilablc condition for the cardioplasty with the fundoplication and an observation of the effect of the antircflux function following the operations. The results show that a suppcrting dcvicc of a round tube with 1 - 1.2 ctn diamcter is used as a guide to establish a good lovver esophageal sphinctcr(LES). The experimental ani-mais may survive very long. The pressure in the sphimcter is cvenly the same as that after the operation immediately. The gastroesophageal reflux is never occurred except intragastric pres-sure is the same as or higher than LES. The lower csophagcal high pressure zone formed is similar to the smooth muscle in the lower part of csophagus at the sile of opcralions . The new formed cardia plays an excellent role of anturc flux function . This report suggists that the cardioplasty with fundoplication is useful for the treatment of esophageal achalasia and somc other abdpminal disorders.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1982;0(01):-
Three crystals (Ⅰ, ⅡandⅢ) were isolated from Galeola shweliensis W.W. Sm. and identified by means of physical nd chemical properties, and spectral data. It shows that crystal I was a novel com-pound, named galeolate (CH3-(CH2)12-C-O-CH2 -(CH2)12-C-O-C-CH3). Crystal ⅡandⅢwere confirmed as steanc acid and ?-sitosterol, respectively. These three constituents were found inthis plant for the first time.
8.Pathological Changes of the Lungs after High-velocity Steel Bullet-induced-Bone Fracture in Pigs
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1988;0(05):-
The histopathological and ultrastructural changes of the lungs of 11 pigs suffering from comminuted fracture of the femur produced by high-velocity sieel bullet were studied. The steel bullet was 7.62 mm in diameter and 1.03 g in weight. The pulmonary changes were observed 24, 48, and 72 hours after injury.It was found that microvascular congestion, aggregation of RBC and WBC, and degranulation of WBC were prominent features 24 hours after injury. The basement membrane of the endothelium was broken. Type I pneumocytes became swollen and deteriorated. The lamellar bodies of Type II pneumocytes were evacuated rapidly. 48 to 72 hours after injury, these pathological changes gradually ameliorated.The pulmonary pathology occurring after bullet - induced fracture observed in this study is similar to that of adult respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS) in character but much milder in intensity. Its prognosis is always fine. Most of the experimental animals showed no symptoms or signs of ARDS. It is concluded that severe limb trauma can induce subclinical ARDS.
9.Acid-Base Balance Responses of Acute Graded Hemorrhage in Dogs
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1984;0(01):-
On 8 dogs a moderate hypotension is produced by stcpwisc blood loss of 24ml/kg for 60 min At the end of this period the shed blood is rcinfuscd back in the animal.Results of observation after 60 min demonstrate a significant (p
10.Effect of Exercise on the Blood Flow of Maternal Uterine Artery and Fetal Umbilical Artery in Healthy Women
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1981;0(04):-
Effect of exercise on placental blood flow and fetal heart rate was studied using Acuson 128 color computer ultrasound equipment The subjects were ten healthy women ranging from 27 to 35 gesta- ' tional weeks (mean 30.7 weeks). After exercise, the matcrnal mean arterial pressure increased significantly, maternal heart rate rose and amounted to 60%-75% of maximal heart rate (both P0.05). The fetal heart rale rose but within normal limit. These showed that the responses of maternal blood vessel and fetal blood vessel of placenta to the exercise were different This intensity and time of exercise could improve uterine blood flow and reduce its vascular resistance. However, they didn't influence the umbilical artery blood flow. Also the change of fetal heart rate was within normal limit. It is concluded that the moderate and non-exhaustive maternal exercise can improve the supply of the placental blood flow and benefit to the 2nd and 3rd trimister healthy pregnant women.
