7.A Case of Multicystic Encephalomalacia in a Liveborn Twin with a Stillborn Co-twin.

Multicystic encephalomalacia is the condition defined anatomically by the presence of multiple cavities in the great part of both cerebral hemispheres. The most common cause of the condition was regarded as the circulatory disturbance during the perinatal period. Also, neonatal asphyxia was the most important cause of the circulatory disturbance. But we experienced a case of multicystic encephalomalacia in a liveborn twin with a stillborn co-twin without perinatal asphyxia. It seems likely that intrauterine disseminated intravascular coagualation owing to fetofetal transfer of thromboplastic material from the dead fetus through vascular shunts in a monochorionic placenta without neonatal asphyxia constitute the main cause of the neurologic complication in our patient. So we report with a brief review and its related literatures.

8.Medicolegal Autopsies in Mdeical School, 1996.

We present 20 medicolegal autopsies performed at the Department of Forensic medicine, Seoul National University Medical College during the year of 1996. In Korea Postmortem Invesigation (PI) system is not established and is needed greatly provide the basic considerations on PI system, we detailed the cases with impediments to be overcome. Among the 20 cases, 13cases were unusual deaths and 6 cases were natural. For unusual deaths, 7 were by mechanical injuries, four by asphyxia. Test for toxic stance was the most needed part to be solved.

9.Suicidal Strangulation by Ligature : Three Case Reports.

Suicidal strangulation by ligature (so-called self-strangulation) is distinctly uncommon. It is distinct from self-suspension in cases of hanging, the latter being a far more common form of suicide. Suicidal strangulation by ligature must be separated from homicidal strangulation by ligature. But clear distinction between the homicidal and suicidal strangulation by ligature is often impossible on the basis of the anatomical findings alone, although fractures of the larynx in suicidal strangulations are distinctly unusual. An accurate evaluation of circumstances, a thorough post-mortem examination, and inspection of the scene are extremely important in such cases. It is equally important to examine the type of noose and knot as well as the number of turns around the neck. We reports three cases of suicidal strangulation by ligature with brief review of literature.
