1.Assessment of sliding insulin use in the treatment of new onset hyperglycemia cause by stress in emergency patients without diabetes
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;505(3):74-77
Sliding scale insulin was often applied for emergency patients. However there is no study on this therapy in Viet Nam. We used this therapy for 51 new onset hyperglycemic patients (glycemia > 200 mg/dl ) from 6/1998 to 2/2003. Regular insulin was injected when blood glucose>200 mg/dl, then blood glucose level was monitored by finger stick sugar Q4h. If glucose 200-300mg/dl, given 5IU of insulin, glucose>300 mg/dl, given 10 U.The goal blood glucose < 200mg/dl. Results: The average time to lower the blood glucose level to the target level was about 46h. The result after 7 days showed that glycemia was controlled < 200mg/dl and <150 mg/dl in 92% and 62% patientss, respectively. There was no severe hypoglycemia documented during the study.

2.Evaluation of bioavailability of ketoprofen 200 mg long acting tablets
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;326(6):22-24
In vitro bioavailability of ketoprofen 200mg long acting tablets by the oral were studied. Using basket dissolution tester at 120rpm. Released ketoprofen was determined by a UV – spectrophotometer at 260nm. Ketoprofen plasma levels on carefully chosen 6 healthy volunteers were within treatment which reached from 4 to 36 hours. 200mg ketoprofen LP tablets gradually released ketoprofen within 24 hours and released about 80% after 18 hours. Pharmacological parameter of ketoprofen 200mg long acting tablets have the same value compared with the results which have been published

3.Comparison of the infected mouse brain by Nakayama and Beijing -1 strain for Japanese Encephalitis vaccine production
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;515(7):3-5
Using white Swiss mouse at 3-4 weeks of age for injection of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) virus. Every 8 lots of the mouse had been infected with Nakayama and Beijing-1 strains by injection of 0.03ml into their brains, then followed up within 3 days. The paralysed mice were collected at the 69th hour of the beginning and at the 120th hour of the end. The interval between collection time was every 3 hours. In this study, the rate of mice with paralysis due to Beijing-1 strain was higher than those due to Nakayama strain (94.99% and 92.97%, respectively). The authors suggested that use of Beijing-1 strain to produce JE vaccine is more effective than Nakayama strain.

4.Evaluation of technical support to commune health level in Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2004;14(6):73-76
This study was to evaluate the effect of technical support in terms of providing training on integrated management of childhood illness (IMCI) to commune health centers of Quynh Phu district and Hung Ha district of Thai Binh province. The results of a comparison between the baseline survey in 2002 and the follow-up survey in 2004 showed that case management of health workers in 2 districts had improved significantly and were more comprehensive in terms of assessment, classification, treatment and counseling mothers. The proportion of correct assessment of cases on general danger signs increased by 47.5%. The proportion of correct assessment of cases on main symptoms (cough, diarrhea and fever) increased by 63.4%, on the correct classification of cases increased by 72,5% and the correct drug use increased by 46.7%. Th proportion of caregivers/mothers received proper advice on drug use, proper feeding and follow-up increased by 43.5%, 34.9% and 41.1%, respectively

5.Isosexual precocious pseudopuberty: a case report
Ho Chi Minh city Medical Association 2005;10(1):20-20
Report a case of patient Tran Đ.V. born at December 26th 2002 in Ninh Thuan district, Khanh Hoa province, admitted hospital at November 25th 2003 due to hirsutism and developed genitalia. Ultrasound and CT scan examinations showed a mass in his right adrenal gland, which was subsequently removed surgically. The histopathological findings were consistent with an adreno-cortical carcinoma. This is a rare tumor with frequency 1/10.000 adrenal tumors in adult. In children, there are some cases and most frequently in girls. Adreno-cortical carcinoma combining with isosexual precocious pseudopuberty is rarer in boys

6.Survey on knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) and information, education and communication (IEC) in malaria control for Raglai people, Khanh Vinh district, Khanh Hoa province
Journal of Malaria and parasite diseases Control 2003;0(1):22-30
A cross-sectional survey on KAP and local IEC activities in malaria control for the ethnic minority people of Raglay was carried out in Khanh Hoa province's Khanh Vinh district in order to produce appropriate IEC materials for this group of population. The interviews of 400 random samples from 8 villages of two communes showed that 85.93% of respondents correctly understood the causes of malaria, 94.47% seek treatment in the health center if they got ill, and 82.22% correctly knew how to prevent from malaria. IEC for malaria control was made mainly through the local mass media of loudspeakers and health workers. Posters and leaflets were found to be poor and not highly effective. It is recommended to implement IEC campaigns on the face to face basis, community meetings, and network of local health communicators.

7.Studying skin temperature feature at 12 couples of Yuan point on patients with gastric - duodenal ulcer
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2005;0(2):55-60
A random study on skin temperature change at 12 couples of Yuan point was carried out on 120 subjects. These subjects were divided into two groups: 60 subjects with duodenal ulcer and 60 healthy subjects served as control. Results: There were difference in skin temperature of bilateral Thai xung point in both male and female with gastric-duodenal ulcer (P<0.05-0.01). Temperature of 12 couples of Yuan point in this group was higher than those in control group (P<0.05-0.001)

Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;442(2):96-98
In 242 subjects (68 female, 174 male), ELISA technique was performed with the set of ORGANON TEKNIKA UNIFORM II. Result showed a HBeAg positive rate of 37.42% on HBsAg positive subjects.
The rate of HBsAg positive subjects having anti HBsAg is 56.61%. In 38.9% of B viral hepatitis patients, recession of the condition was noted on laboratory examinations

9.Effects of new onset hyperglycemia on plasma osmolarity and electrolyte disorders in emergency patients
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2004;301(8):1-9
99 patients aged 15 – 87 years old were hospitalized at Bach Mai Hospital from June 1998 to Feb.2003, among them 51 cases were diagnosed as sufferring from diabetes and in 48 other, diabetes were still not diagnosed. At admission, average blood level of glucose 18,97+/_8,1 mmol. In 35-50% of studied cases, plasma osmolarity >300 mOsmol/kg H2O during monitored time. There was no statistically significant difference between various groups in the variation of glucose plasma level .In 10-20% of cases, there was an increase of 145 mmol/l of natrium in plasma

10.Assessment of sliding insulin use in the treatment of new onset hyperglycemia in emergency patients
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2004;301(8):26-33
Insuline therapy was used on 99 over-15 years old patients of newly diagnosed diabetes first in internal emergency Department at Bach Mai Hospital from June1998 to Feb.2003 Subjects were divided into 2 groups: Group 1 included persons of the signs of high blood glucose level without diabetes; group 2 included patients sufferred from diabetes without confirmed diagnosis. In >92% of cases of group 1 and 74% of group 2, insuline therapy had effectiveness to control blood glucose level <11mmol from the 7th day of treatment and after the 7th day in >62% of group 1 and <36% of group 2. There was no complication of hypoglycemia
