OBJECTIVE:To investigate the method for preparation and quality control of ornidazole oral membrane.METHODS:Ornidazole oral membrane was prepared with polyvinyl alcohol and sodium carboxymethylcellulose as its adju-vants;The content of ornidazole was determined by ultraviolet spectrophotometry at the wavelength of316nm.RESULTS:There was a good linear correlation within a range of6.0～18.0?g/ml(r=0.9997)of ornidazole concentration,the average recovery was100.19%(RSD=0.66%,n=5).CONCLUSION:The established technique is simple,and the content deter-mination is quick,precise and reliable.

Objective Evaluation of enema application of Yiyi-Fuzi-Baijiang powder combined with oral sulfasalazine enteric-coated tablets in treating ulcerative colitis. Methods The patients with ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into 2 groups, 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with sulfasalazine, and the observation group with sulfasalazine and Yiyi-Fuzi-Baijiang powder. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. ELISA method was used to detect the levels of IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α. The changes of disease activity index (Sutherland DAI) were observed before and after treatment, and the clinical efficacy was evaluated. Results After treatment, the Sutherland DAI (3.89 ± 0.91 vs. 4.91 ± 1.08, t=3.082) in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P=0.042). The level of TNF-α (20.82 ± 4.31 ng/L vs. 26.51 ± 5.25 ng/L, t=3.602), IL-6 (31.73 ± 4.82 ng/L vs. 40.18 ± 5.63 ng/L, t=3.817), and IL-8 (35.39 ± 4.62 ng/L vs. 40.59 ± 5.35 ng/L, t=3.341) in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The total efficiency of observation group was 92.9% (39/42), and the control group was 73.8% (31/42). There was significant difference between the two groups (χ2=4.200, P=0.040). Conclusions The Yiyi-Fuzi-Baijiang powder combined with sulfasalazine could relieve the clinical symptoms of ulcerative colitis patients with spleen-kidney yang deficiency, and inhibition inflammatory response.

Planar cell polarity pathway regulates cell polarity and polarized cell movements.Recent studies in mouse models have found mutations in several genes in this pathway and specifically in the Vangl2 gene,which results in abnormalities in cardiac development,suggesting Vangl2 and this pathway play an important role in heart development.This review mainly elucidates the mechanisms regulated by the Vangl2 gene and PCP pathway during outflow tract development and the formation of the coronary vasculature.

AlM: To establish the frequency, associations and risk factors for age-related macular degeneration ( AMD ) in hospital population.
METHODS: ln this hospital based study, 589 subjects above 60 years of age were screened randomly for AMD. Participants underwent ocular evaluation and were interviewed for lifestyle variables and dietary intake of carotenoids by structured food frequency questionnaire. AMD was defined according to the international classifications and grading system.
RESULTS: Either form of AMD was detected in 48 participants. AMD was significant among diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, body mass index, heavy cigarette smokers and alcoholics ( P < 0. 05 ). Dietary lutein/zeaxanthin ( L/Z) and β-carotene intake were associated with the reduction in risk for AMD(P<0. 05).
CONCLUSlON: Higher dietary intake of carotenoids, especially L/Z, is associated with lower risk for AMD. Risk of AMD is prevalent among subjects with diabetes. Cessation of smoking and alcohol may reduce the risk of AMD in this population.

Background:With the increase in pace and pressure of modern life,the aging of population,the change in dietary pattern and the challenge of social psychological problems,the overall prevalence of chronic constipation is increasing in general population in recent decades. Aims:To investigate the prevalence and associated factors of chronic constipation in medical staff. Methods:A total of 1 000 medical staffs were enrolled at random in Shanghai Ren Ji Hospital for fulfilling a questionnaire on associated factors of chronic constipation. Diagnosis of chronic constipation met the Rome Ⅲ criteria. Chi-square test and Logistic regression model analysis were performed to screen the potential risk factors for chronic constipation. The statistically significant variables revealed by chi-square test were taken into the Logistic regression model. Results:Nine hundred and eighty-six medical staffs completed the questionnaire,of them 115 were diagnosed as chronic constipation with a prevalence of 11. 7% . Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that reading/ playing cell phone when defecation,working pressure,anxiety,and depression were the risk factors,which might increase the prevalence of chronic constipation;while regular life style,regular diet,drinking water,and regular bowel movement were the protective factors,which might decrease the prevalence of chronic constipation. Conclusions:Chronic constipation is prevalent in medical staff in Shanghai. Psychological factors,dietary pattern and life style,etc. are considered to be implicated in the pathogenesis of chronic constipation. Favorable life style,dietary pattern,bowel habit and mental status are associated with the reduced risk of chronic constipation.

Objective To discuss the effect of evaluation before surgery,the tolerance of surgery and risk after surgery.Methods The analysis was conducted through random selection of 80 cases of pa-tients admitted by the hospital and had cardiothoracic surgery on other day.Patients were divided into 3 groups,respectively pulmonary function test normality,damage mildly and moderately and damage severely. Patients were observed in rest state,after motion,after motion in 2 minutes,4 minutes and 6minutes for their blood gas analysis.Results ⑴ PaO2 ,PaCO2 and SaO2 of patients in the second group changed after motion,however,the discrepancy between the two groups was not significant statistically(P >0.05 ). PaO2 and SaO2 of patients in the second group changed a lot after motion,the discrepancy between the two groups was significant statistically(P <0.05).The discrepancy of PaCO2 between the two groups was not significant statistically(P >0.05).⑵ In rest state,SaO2 was no more than 90% and 100%(4 /4)of pa-tients had complication .After motion,SaO2 was no more than 90% or the descend range of it was no less than 4%.90.0%(9 /10)of patients had complication,92.8%(13 /14)in total.SaO2 was more than 90%in rest state and after motion or the descend range was less than 4%.10.6%(7 /66)of patients had compli-cation after surgery.the discrepancy between the two groups was significant statistically(P <0.01).Con-clusions Dynamic blood analysis of pulmonary function test can better forecast cardio-pulmonary function, risk of surgery and past -operative recovery of patients,the index with most value is SaO2 of arterial blood gases after motion(0 min).

Objective: Thyroid nodules are common clinical thyroid disorders.The purpose of this study was to investigate the diagnostic value of the clinical characteristics and various parameters of malignant thyroid nodules and the sensitive indexes for their differentiation so as to improve the diagnosis of malignant thyroid nodules and avoid unnecessary procedures or operations.Methods: We retrospectively studied 600 cases of thyroid nodules treated by surgery from 2001 to 2008,divided them into a benign and a malignant group according to the pathological results,and analyzed by multivariate logistic regression the correlation between the nature of thyroid nodules and various factors.Results: Of the 600 cases of thyroid nodules,519(83.47%) were benign and 81(16.53%) were malignant.Clinical symptoms and signs,ultrasonography and CT were all useful in indicating malignancy,especially ultrasonography,whose specificity and diagnostic accuracy were 93.3% and 84.2%,respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed a higher rate of malignancy in younger patients with solid or hard nodules,or accompanied with calcification or painless adenophyma in the neck.Conclusion: Clinical symptoms and signs,ultrosonography and CT are of significant value in the diagnosis of malignant thyroid nodules.

Objective To introduce a patent: The assembled equipment of external counterpulsation with an oxygen mask in the treatment of ischemic diseases that has been opened by the national property right bureau of knowledge.Methods Based on the current equipment,oxygen was provided with a mask along with external counterpulsation.Results It could enhance blood stream as well as the blood oxygen rate.Conclusion Assembled equipment of external counterpulsation with oxygen mask can enhance cure speed and rate in the treatment of ischemic diseases.
