BACKGROUND: Chemotherapy drugs can kil both cancer cel s and normal tissue cel s. Molecular targeted therapy can reduce or avoid toxicity of chemotherapy drugs to normal cel s. OBJECTIVE: To study the therapeutic effect of folic acid magnetic nanoparticles containing cisplatin on laryngeal cancer. METHODS: Folic acid-cis-diaminodichloroplatinum (II)-aldehyde sodium alginate-magnetic nanoparticles (FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs) were prepared. The FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs, CDDP and FA-ASA-MNPs were cultured together with human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 cel s. To detect the effect of FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs, CDDP and FA-ASA-MNPs on human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 cel s, MTT, flow cytometry and transmission electron microscopy examination were used in vitro. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Both FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs and CDDP could inhibit the growth of human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 cel s, and there was no difference in their inhibitory rates (P > 0.05). FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs and CDDP showed increased inhibitory rates of human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 cel s with the increase of CDPP concentration. The half maximal inhibitory concentrations of CDDP for inhibiting Hep-2 cel s were significantly different at 24 and 48 hours after culture (P < 0.05). Both FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs and CDDP could cause apoptosis in Hep-2 cel s, and the number of apoptotic cel s was increased with the increase of drug concentrations (P < 0.05), but there was no difference between two kinds of drugs (P > 0.05). FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs and CDDP at low concentrations could increase the percentage of cel s at G0/G1, but decrease the cel proportion at S and G2/M phases (P < 0.05). Under transmission electron microscope, Hep-2 cel s with the intake of FA-CDDP-ASA-MNPs appeared to have notable apoptosis. These findings suggest that folic acid magnetic nanoparticles containing cisplatin can inhibit the growth of human laryngeal cancer Hep 2 cel s, with no influence on the efficacy of cisplatin and with no cytotoxic effect.

OBJECTIVE: Approach to the pharmacodynamics of cisatracurium in newborn. METHODS: Sixty patients were randomized to two groups: Group Ⅰ and Group Ⅱ , received( iv) 2ED95 or 3ED95 cisatracurium in 5 seconds respectively, n=30. Neuromuscular transmission was monitored and Intubation conditions were assessed at 120s after cisatracurium administration using a 4- part scale. Observe onset time, TOF no reaction period, duration of action, recovery index, duration in vivo. RESULTS: The muscular blockage and conditions of intubation after 120s were different between two groups( P0. 05) . CONCLUSIONS: 3ED95 cisatracurium produces quicker, safer onset time and acceptable intubating conditions in the great majority of newborn than 2ED95. The TOF no reaction period, duration of action and duration in vivo were longer in 3ED95 group than in 2ED95 group, but recovery index are no significant between 2 groups with dosage.

Objeetive To investigate the retired elderly patients who had traditional Chinese medicine for preventing cardio-vascular disease and their complications for providing the best possible care.Methods Forty-eight retired elderly patients who had been given the infusion of traditional Chinese medicine for preventing the cardio-vascular disease over two years were analyzed.Results The finance,individual choice and social influences were the three major factors for the retired elderly people to choose traditional Chinese medicine for preventing cardiovascular diseases.In forty-eight patients of the study,100％ of them had secure medical insurance and they did not have any worries with the finance.93.75％ of them positively agreed with the treatment.91.67％ of them supported the idea use of the traditional Chinese medicine to promote the health and had the positive influence on the society.Conclusion Financial reasons,individual preference and social influences are the main factors to affect the retired elderly patient's choice of having traditional Chinese medicine to prevent cardiovascular disease.Our health care system for the retired elderly people has ensured the compliance of the treatment.With the increased awareness of the importance of the health,the traditional Chinese medicine has been widely used to prevent the occurrence of the cardio-vascular disease.

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of serum pyridinoline cross-linked carboxy-terminal telopeptide of type Ⅰ collagen(ⅠCTP),anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide(CCP)antibody,rheumatoid factor(RF)and C-reative protein(CRP)detection to the diagnosis and disease monitor of rheumatoid arthritis.Methods Serum ⅠCTP and anti-CCP antibody were measured by ELISA,RF and CRP by immunonephelometry assay in 57 patients with RA and 25 with non-RA as well as 30 normal controls.Results Serum ⅠCTP concentration was positively correlated with that of anti-CCP antibody,RF and CRP(rs=0.474,0.366,0.645,P0.05).Serum ⅠCTP in the patients with active RA was significantly higher than in those with stable RA and normal controls(P0.05).The combined sensitivity of RF and anti-CCP antibody was 87.5%.Conclusion Serum ⅠCTP is a sensitive serum marker to monitor the early damage of arthrosis.Missed diagnosis rate of RA is reduced by detecting anti-CCP antibody and RF together.Combinational monitoring the variance of serum ⅠCTP,anti-CCP antibody,RF and CRP could effectively monitor the disease development in time,which exhibits great sense on impede arthrosis damage.

Objective To explore the pathogenesis, reason, diagnosis and treatment of cerebral salt wasting syndrome (CSWS) in the patients with serious cerebral injury. Methods The clinical data of 26 cases of CSWS after serious cerebral injury were analyzed retrospectively. Results The diagnosis of CSWS was confirmed by clinical symptoms of the patients and the results of laboratory examinations. After the effective treatment, the low plasma sodium level of 21 patients was corrected, and 5 patients died. Conclusion Hyponatremia,hypernatruria, hypovolemia, the increase of urinary amount and the elevation of plasma ANP and BNP level were main characteristics of CSWS.The supplement of water and salt was safe and effective in the treatment of CSWS.

The performance appraisal (PA) system establishment in scientific research institutes on traditional Chi-nese medicine (TCM) plays an important role in the management of TCM research work, which can set up both well-defined guidance and favorable appraisal regimen for scientific researchers, so that leads to the accomplishment of the scientific objectives. However, current PA system establishment has fallen seriously behind the real demand in most TCM research institutes. As a result, there is a serious lack of a mature, efficient, standardized, propagable PA system in TCM research field. In this paper, we tried to discuss the current situation and key issues in building modern PA system in TCM research institutes. The PA system development in scientific research institutes on TCM was pointed out. The PA system should be based on existed referenced similar platforms, with full consideration on professional features and Chinese culture. The PA system establishment should be with most science, systematicness, objectivity, and guidance. The PA system should also be established to evaluate the scientific researchers equitably, guide the scientific trend, provide proper institute, and promote scientific research.

Objective To detect the expressions of nerve growth factor (NGF) and its receptors tyrosine kinase A (TrkA) as well as p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR) in the lesions of lichen planus.Methods Biopsy specimens were collected from the lesions of 32 patients with lichen planus and normal skin of 12 healthy human controls and subjected to paraffin embedding.Immunohistochemical avidin-biotin complex (ABC) method was used to detect the expressions of NGF,TrkA and p75NTR.Results NGF and TrkA,which were located in the cytoplasm of keratinocytes,were strongly or moderately expressed in the lesional skin specimens,but absent or weakly expressed in the normal skin specimens (both P ＜ 0.01).No significant differences were observed in the expression of p75NTR between the lesional and normal skin specimens,or in the expressions of NGF,TrkA or p75NTR among specimens from patients in different age groups,patients of different gender or lesions at different sites (all P ＞ 0.05).There was a positive correlation between the expression of NGF and TrkA in the lesions of lichen planus (R2 =0.535,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion NGF may play a certain role in the development of lichen planus via its highaffinity receptor TrkA.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of percutaneous laser disc decompression(PLDD)combined with injection of collagenase through a target location for treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.Methods Ninety patients with lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion scheduled for discolysis,aged 31-52 yr,weighing 58-70 kg,were randomly divided into 3 groups: PLDD group(group P,n = 29),collagenase injection group(group C,n = 31),PLDD combined with injection of collagenase through a target location group(group PC,n = 30).The puncture was performed under the guidance of CT.Group P was treated using PLDD.Group C was treated with collagenase injection.Group PC was treated with injection of collagenase after PLDD was completed.The therapeutic effect was assessed before operation and on day 7,30,60 and 90 after operation using M-JOA score.Results M-JOA grade was significantly higher at the each time point after operation in group P and PC,and on day 30,60 and 90 after operation in group C than that before operation(P ＜ 0.05).M-JOA grade was significantly lower on day 30 after operation in group P,while higher on day 30,60 and 90 after operation in group C and PC than that on day 7 after operation(P ＜ 0.05).M-JOA grade was significantly lower at the each time point after operation in group P and C than in group PC.Conclusion The therapeutic effect of PLDD combined with collagenase injection through a target location is stable for treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation and better than that of PLDD or collagenase injection alone.

Objective To investigate the relationship between infection of helicobaeter pylori(Hp) and iron deficiency anemia(IDA) and to explore effective clinical treatments for patients with Hp associated IDA . Method 1. The Hp infection ratio of 40 chronic gastritis with IDA and 42 patients without IDA were counted up respectively. 2. 36 patients with Hp-positive chronic gastritis were divided into two groups randomly. One group was treated by using Hp eradication therapy in conjunction with oral iron supplement and the other using iron supplement only. The hema-tological parameters before and after treatment are measured and the effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated. Re-sult The Hp infection ratio in chronic gastritis patients with IDA is |figher than that in patients without IDA and the difference is significant. After Hp eradication therapy in conjunction with iron supplement Hb. serum iron and serum ferritin level in Hp associated IDA patients are increased significantly while that for patients treated by using iron sup-plement only have no significant improvement. Conclusion It appears that Hp infection may be related to IDA. When iron supplement treatment has no obvious effect to an IDA patient,lt may suggest a ease of Hp associated IDA. The i-ton supplement treatment has positive effects to IDA patients after Hp eradication.
