Objective To explore the effect of formaldehyde on learning and memory and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the cerebral tissues. Methods 40 ICR mice were randomly divided into four gropes: A-control group (NS was added into water bottle), B, C, D-three formaldehyde dose groups (0.1, 0.2, 0.4% formaldehyde solution were added into water bottles). After 30 days of treatment, the ability of learning and memory were evaluated by Morris watermaze test and step-down test and the activity of SOD in the cerebral tissues was determined. Results In the Morris watermaze test (the fifth day), escapelaten latence in group C[ (29.23?5.56)s] and D[ (37.36?7.39)s] were significantly longer than group A[ (21.65?5.81)s](P

Objective To investigate the effect of bifidobacterium (Bif) supplementation on acute inflammatory response in murine dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis, and its possible mechanism. Methods Mice were divided into four groups: control,DSS, salfasalazine (SASP) and Bif. The mice in groups DSS, SASP and Bif were fed with 5% DSS(w/v) solution for 7 days to induce colitis, and disease activity index (DAI) was calculated every day. The mice in group SASP were fed with SASP every day during inducing colitis, and the mice in Bif group were given Bif by oral gavage from 7 days before the experiment to the end of experiment. The expression of TNF-?、NF-?B P65 and myeloperoxidase (MPO) in inflamed colon of each group was measured at the end of experiment. Results The mice in groups SASP and Bif showed a lower DAI than those in group DSS since the forth day to the end of experiment. There were lower level of TNF-? and MPO in murine inflammatory colon, and lower NF-?B P65 expression in nuclei of inflammatory cells in groups SASP and Bif than those in control at the end of experiment. Conclusions Treatment with Bif can effectively inhibit proinflammatory cytokine secretion and NF-?B activation in inflammatory cells, and decrease colonic inflammatory response in DSS induced colitis.

Objective:To prepare PLGA nanoparticles modified with folic acid conjugated chitosan oligosaccharide containing pa-clitaxel (F-CS-PLGA-NPs) and study the inhibitory effect on SKOV-3. Methods:F-CS-PLGA-NPs were prepared by an interface dep-osition method, 30% ethanol was used as the release medium for the in vitro release profiles of nanoparticles, and MTT was adopted to evaluate the inhibitory effect of paclitaxel with different formulations and concentrations on SKOV-3. Results:The particle size and zeta potential of F-CS-PLGA-NPs was (321 ± 0. 76) nm and (22. 6 ± 0. 26) mV, respectively, the drug loading was (5. 1 ± 0. 25)%, and the encapsulation efficiency was (41. 96 ± 1. 96)%. F-CS-PLGA-NPs had a similar in vitro release profiles with the ordinary nanoparti-cles ( PLGA-NPs) . About 35% of paclitaxel was released from the nanoparticles in the initial 24 h, and then a near zero order release at a relative slow rate was shown, and the cumulative release rate in 144 h was about 75%. The results of cell experiments suggested that at the same paclitaxel concentration, the inhibition effect of F-CS-PLGA-NPs group was stronger than that of the PLGA-NPs group and the solution group. The inhibition effect of F-CS-PLGA-NPs could be reduced by free folic acid. Conclusion:PLGA nanoparticles modified with folic acid conjugated chitosan oligosaccharide can increase the targeting efficiency in SKOVS-3 tumor cells.

Objective To evaluate 10-year risk of ischemic cardiovascular diseases (ICVD) in middle-aged adults in Henan province to provide evidence for improved health status. Methods The 10- year risk of ICVD in 12 064 middle-aged adults was evaluated by using simplified risk estimation model. Results About 96. 35% of male and 98. 29% of female had a probability of < 10% to develop ICVD over 10 years; 3.65% of male and 1.71% of female had a probability of ≥ 10% to develop ICVD over 10 years; and 0.68% of male and 0.23% of female had a probability of≥20% to develop ICVD over 10 years. The prevalence of risk factors for ICVD in two absolute risk groups ( ≥10% vs < 10% ) was significantly different. Conclusions The risk of ICVD in the middle-aged residents of Henan province may be similar to that in the middle-aged Chinese adults. The risk assessment for ICVD could be used for high- risk populations.

A total of 96 patients with Graves'disease(GD)were followed for one and half years to observe the effect of antithyroid drugs(ATD)treatment.Serum TRAb,total iodine concentration and CD80 mRNA expression of peripheral blood monouclear ceils were measured.Logistics regression analysis was conducted with the combination of above parameters. Those GD patients with high level of TRAb,positive family history of GD, increased expression of CD80 and early age of onset were more inclined to relapse after ATD treatment.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2003;20(4):657-660
The methods for measurement of blood flow contain dilution, electro-magnetism, nuclear magnetic resonance, Doppler etc. The dilution, which includes heat dilution, 131Xe, etc., can not display the moving blood flow in real-time. The expenses of nuclear magnetic resonance expenses are very high. Electromagnetism must be used in the surgical operation. And ultrasound Doppler can not record other parameters of hemodynamics synchronously. This paper brings up a kind of blood flow measuring method with simple operating rules, dependable performance, and low cost to meet the needs in hemodynamic studies. The differential pressure between stay and fluxion points of the tube is produced in proportion to the square of velocity while fluid flows through the tube. We not only measure blood pressure or transfer drug using the detention catheter with double chamber, but also detect the differential pressure related within blood flow. The result of detecting cerebral blood flow (CBF) in clinical setting shows this method can record the diagram of dynamic blood flow and is a valid was of detecting blood flow for hemodynamic studies.

Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2013;(4):265-268
Objective To investigate the effect of early rehabilitation on rats' motor performance after moderate or severe experimental traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods After adult Sprague-Dawley rats had received moderate or severe TBI,they were randomly assigned to either a 24 hour exercise group (group A),a 3-day exercise group (group B),a 7-day exercise group (group C) or a control group. Each group was composed of 8 rats. The exercise group endured forced treadmill training on an electric treadmill for 14 consecutive days initiated 24 hours,3 days or 7 days post TBI.The foot-fault and cylinder tests were performed on the 6th,12th,18th,24th and 28th day post injury. On the 28th day the rats were sacrificed and the brains were removed and frozen. The frozen coronal brain sections were stained with cresyl violet (CV) for quantitative evaluation of cortical lesion volume. Results The rats in groups B and C showed significant decreases in the percentage of left forelimb foot faults compared with the control group at the 18th,24th and28th day after injury. In addition, the rats of group C demonstrated significant decreases in the percentage of left forelimb foot-fault at the 12th day after injury. There was no significant difference between group A and the control group in terms of foot fault scores in any of the subsequent test sessions. In the cylinder test the forelimb use asymmetry scores of neither group A nor group B were significantly different from the control group.Group C showed marked locomotor asymmetry improvement at day 28 post-injury.There was no significantly different loss of hemispheric tissue between those groups. Conclusion After treadmill exercise for 14 consecutive days initiated at 3 or 7 days following moderate or severe TBI,rats' motor function improved. The cortical lesion volume was not associated with recovery of motor function.
