Objective:
To explore the combined effect of health literacy and nonsuicidal selfinjury on suiciderelated behaviors in junior middle school students, so as to provide reference for suicide prevention.
Methods:
During May to June 2023, a selffilling questionnaire survey was conducted among 7 367 junior middle school students selected by the methods of multistage stratified cluster sampling combined with conventient sampling in Chongqing. And a binary Logistic regression model was established to analyze the association of health literacy and NSSI with suiciderelated behaviors.
Results:
The detection rates of suicidal ideation, suicide planning, and suicide attempt among junior middle school students were 27.99%, 9.84%, and 4.64%, and the detection rate of NSSI was 38.03%, the rates of possessing total health literacy, functional health literacy, interactive health literacy, and critical health literacy were 62.68%, 66.51%, 54.24%, and 72.65%, respectively. Binary Logistic regression analyses showed that the absence of total health literacy and the three dimensions of health literacy and NSSI were positively correlated with suicidal ideation, suicide planning, and suicide attempt in junior middle school students (OR=1.42-10.30), and there were combined effects (OR=7.43-18.71) (P<0.05).
Conclusions
Lack of health literacy or the presence of NSSI and their coexistence increase the risk of suiciderelated behaviors, and health literacy level should be improved in junior middle school students to reduce NSSI and thereby prevent suiciderelated behaviors.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(7):1026-1030
Objective:
To explore the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and nonsuicidal selfinjury (NSSI) and suiciderelated behaviors among junior high school students, so as to provide a reference basis for the prevention of junior high school students suicide.
Methods:
From May to June 2023, a total of 7 392 junior high school students in three districts and counties of Chongqing were selected for self-administered questionnaire survey by stratified cluster sampling and convenience sampling methods. The questionnaire survey was conducted using the Chinese version of the Childhood Trauma Scale, Adolescent NSSI Assessment Questionnaire, and Suicide Related Behavior Questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed by using χ 2 test, multifactorial Logistic regression model, and additional interaction analysis was used to calculate the estimated relative excess risk due to interaction (RERI), attributable proportion (AP), and synergy index (S), as well as 95% CI .
Results:
The detection rate of NSSI among junior high school students was 38.03%, the detection rate of ACEs was 41.76%, and the detection rates of suicidal ideation, suicide planning, and suicide attempt were 27.99%, 9.90%, and 4.75%, respectively. ACEs and its dimensions, and NSSI were the influencing factors for suiciderelated behaviors (OR=1.83-10.66, P<0.01). The result of the additive interaction showed that ACEs and NSSI, PN and NSSI, EA and NSSI, EN and NSSI all had additive interactions on suiciderelated behaviors (RERI=0.45-39.15, AP=0.10-1.09, S=1.02-3.92). And ACEs and its dimensions had additive interactions with NSSI on suiciderelated behaviors, for junior high school students with both ACEs and NSSI had 11.45, 20.38, and 28.76 times the risk of suicidal ideation, suicidal planning, and suicidal attempts as compared to junior high school students without ACEs and without NSSI (P<0.05).
Conclusions
ACEs and NSSI among junior high school students have an additive interaction effect on suicide related behaviors. ACEs and NSSI should be reduced to prevent suicidal behavior among middle school students.

Objective:The study aimed to analyze the clinical and endoscopic characteristics of adult celiac disease (CD) to provide a scientific basis for more effective CD diagnosis and treatment. Methods:In this cross-sectional study, the clinical and endoscopic data of 96 adult CD patients treated in the Department of Gastroenterology of the People′s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from March 2016 to December 2021 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. Results:A total of 96 CD patients were diagnosed, including 33 men and 63 women. The average age was 47±14 years (range, 18-81 years). The disease occurred mainly in the age group of 31-60 years. The median course of the disease was 2.0 (0.2-40.0) years. There were 41 (42.7%) classical and 55 (57.3%) non-classical CD patients. All patients with classical CD showed chronic diarrhea, often accompanied by abdominal pain (46.3%, 19/41), abdominal distension (17.1%, 7/41), anemia (65.9%, 27/41), and chronic fatigue (48.8%, 20/41). The main manifestations of non-classical CD were chronic abdominal pain (58.2%, 32/55), abdominal distension (32.7%, 18/55), anemia (40.0%, 22/55), and osteopenia/osteoporosis (38.2%, 21/55). Compared with non-classical CD, anemia developed more frequently in classical CD, and the difference was statistically significant ( P = 0.012). The incidence of complications in CD patients was 36.5% (35/96), and the main complications were thyroid disease (19.8%, 19/96), connective tissue disease (6.2%, 6/96), and kidney disease (6.2%, 6/96). There was no significant difference between classical and non-classical CD ( P>0.05). The frequency of endoscopic manifestations in CD patients was 84.4% (81/96). Duodenal bulb endoscopy showed nodular changes (72.9%, 70/96), grooved changes (10.4%, 10/96), and focal villous atrophy (9.4%, 9/96). The main manifestations of descending endoscopy were the decrease, flattening, or disappearance of duodenal folds (43.8%, 42/96), scallop-like changes (38.5%, 37/96), and nodular changes (34.4%, 33/96). Conclusions:Adult CD patients are mostly female. CD occurred mainly in the age group of 31-60 years. The clinical manifestations were mainly those of non-classical CD. Some patients often had other autoimmune diseases. Patients with characteristic endoscopic manifestations should be warned about the possibility of developing CD. Clinicians should strengthen the understanding of CD and reduce the related rates of missed diagnosis.

Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2019;25(7):507-514
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the action mechanisms of Huangqi Decoction Granules (, HQDG) on hepatitis B cirrhosis.
METHODS:
A total of 85 patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis were randomly divided into HQDG group (42 cases) and control group (43 cases) by a random number table and were treated with HQDG or placebo for 48 weeks (6 g per times and orally for 3 times a day), respectively. After RNA-sequencing of serum samples extracted from the patients, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in HQDG and control groups before and after treatment were separately screened. The DEGs were then performed pathway enrichment analysis and proteinprotein interaction (PPI) network analysis. The expression levels of key genes were detected by quantitative realtime polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).
RESULTS:
After the investigation, 4 and 3 cases were respectively excluded from HQD and control groups because of the incomplete data. Additionally, 3 and 5 cases were lost to follow up in HQD and control groups respectively. Finally, a total of 70 cases with good compliance were included for further DEGs analysis. A total of 1,070 DEGs (including 455 up-regulated genes and 615 down-regulated genes) in HQDG group and 227 DEGs (including 164 up-regulated genes and 63 down-regulated genes) in the control group were identified after treatment. Compared with the control group, 1,043 DEGs were specific in HQDG group. Besides, 1 up-regulated transcription factor (TF, such as GLI family zinc finger 1, GLI1) and 25 down-regulated TFs (such as drosophila mothers against decapentaplegic proteinfamily member 2, SMAD2) were identified. Pathway enrichment analysis showed that down-regulated Ras homolog gene family member A (RHOA) was enriched in pathogenic Escherichia coli infection. In the PPI network, up-regulated epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and down-regulated cell division cycle 42 (CDC42) as well as v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 1 (AKT1) had higher degrees. Moreover, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) growth arrest-specific 5 (GAS5) was involved in the lncRNA-target regulatory network. Furthermore, qRT-PCR revealed that expression levels of CDC42 and GLI1 had significant differences in HQDG group before and after treatment (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
CDC42 and GLI1 may be the targets of HQDG in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis. Additionally, SMAD2, EGFR, AKT1, RHOA and GAS5 might be associated with the curative effect of HQDG on hepatitis B cirrhosis patients.

Objective To investigate the role of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the reproduction of Culex pipiens pallens, so as to provide insights into selection of targets for controlling mosquito vector populations. Methods Cx. pipiens pallens was collected from Tangkou County, Shandong Province in 2009. Female and male mosquitoes were selected at 72 hours post-eclosion, and quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qPCR) assay was used to detect the expression of ACE gene in the whole body and reproductive tissues of male mosquitoes and fertilized female mosquitoes before (0 h) and after blood meals (24, 48, 72 h), respectively. Then, 150 female and 150 male mosquitoes at 0 to 4 hours post-eclosion were selected and divided into the wild-type group (WT group), small interfering RNA-negative control group (siNC group) and small interfering RNA-ACE group (siACE group), of 50 mosquitoes in each group. Mosquitoes in the WT group were given no treatment, and mosquitoes in the siNC and siACE groups were given microinjection of siNC and siACE into the hemolymph at a dose of 0.3 μg per mosquito. The knockdown efficiency was checked using qPCR assay, and the reproductive phenotype of mosquitoes was observed. Results The relative ACE gene expression was higher in the whole body of male mosquitoes (5.467 ± 1.006) relative to females (1.199 ± 0.241) (t = 5.835, P = 0.004) at 72 h post-eclosion, and the highest ACE expression was seen in reproductive tissues of male mosquitoes (199.100 ± 24.429), which was 188.3 times higher than in remaining tissues (1.057 ± 0.340) (t = 6.602, P = 0.002). Blood meal induced high ACE expression in all body tissues of fertilized female mosquitoes, with peak expression at 24 h after blood meals (14.957 ± 2.815), which was 14.8 times higher than that before blood meals (1.009 ± 0.139) (P = 0.002). The transcriptional level of ACEs continued to increase in the ovaries of female mosquitoes after blood meals during the vitellogenesis phase, peaking at 48 h after blood meals (5.500 ± 0.734), which was 5.1 times higher than that before blood meals (1.072 ± 0.178) (P = 0.002). Small RNA interference targeting ACE resulted in a 57.2% reduction in ACE expression in female mosquitoes in the siACE group (0.430 ± 0.070) relative to the siNC group (1.002 ± 0.070) (P = 0.001), and a 41.1% reduction in male mosquitoes in the siACE group (0.588 ± 0.067) relative to the siNC group (1.008 ± 0.131) (P = 0.016). Knockdown of ACE expression resulted in a 48.0% decrease in the number of eggs laid by female mosquitoes in the siACE group [(94.000 ± 27.386) eggs] relative to the siNC group [(180.800 ± 27.386)] (P < 0.001), and a 45.0% decrease in the number of eggs laid by wild female mosquitoes mated with males in the siACE group [(104.500 ± 20.965) eggs] relative to the siNC group [(190.050 ± 10.698) eggs] (P < 0.001). Conclusions Reduced ACE expression may inhibit the fecundity of male and female mosquitoes, and ACE may be as a potential target for mosquito vector population suppression.
