Objective To observe the abnormality on behavioral ability of transgenic mice for HRX-EEN fusion gene. Methods Transgenic mice for HRX-EEN fusion gene(transgenic group,n=12)and C57/BL mice(control group,n=12)were tested in hidden platform training(day 1 to day 4)and probe trial testing(day 5)in Morris water maze in which ability of spatial learning and retention was assessed. Results In hidden platform training, the latencies of transgenic group were longer than those in control group, and significant differences were observed between the two groups for day 2,3 and 4(P

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(10):-
The pollution hazard of formaldehyde in low level from indoor air is worldwide. Many researches have been focused on the ornamental plant purification for indoor air formaldehyde in low concentration.Although a numbers of literatures have documented that gaseous formaldehyde can be removed by many plant species,a long term purification efficiency of the plants for formaldehyde is uncertain. The research in the future works should be focused on phytotoxieity of formaldehyde,a long term purification efficiency of plants, soil contribution to formaldehyde removal under plant-soil system, effects of complex pollutants on the purification of plants for formaldehyde, and volatile organic compounds from the plants which can remove formaldehyde.

A UPLC method has been developed in the current investigation for simultaneous determination of nine chemical markers of Bletilla striata, 4-hydroxymethylphenyl beta-D-glucoside, blestroside, dactylorhin A, militarine, dihydrophenanthrene 5, gymnoside V, dihydrophenanthrene 1, benzylphenanthrene 3 and gymnosides IX. Separation was performed at 45 degrees C on an ACQUITY UPLC BEH C18 column (2.1 mm x 150 mm, 1.7 microm) with a gradient solvent system of acetonitrile-water as the mobile phase. The flow rate was 0.3 mL x min(-1), the detection wavelength was 280 nm. The results showed that the nine chemical markers could be well resolved and that in the selected linear range, all calibration curves of the nine chemical markers showed good linearity (r > or = 0.999 3). The recoveries (n = 6) were in the range of 98.15% - 102.2% and RSDs were between 2.1% - 3.6%. The data suggested that the developed UPLC-UV method had good reproducibility, robustness, and accuracy, which was suitable for the quality control of Bletilla striata. Applications of the method showed that the nine chemical markers had higher contents in the wild B. striata than in the cultivated ones.

Objective To study the recovery mechanism of dysphagic patients after stroke using functional magnetic resonanee imaging(fMRI). Methods Thirteen patients with dysphagia caused by unilateral cortical or subcortical lesions were recruited into a dysphagia group, and eight age-matched healthy volunteers were recruited as controls. Both grouDs performed experimental volitional swallowing tasks during fMRI studies. All patients of the dys-phagia group received rehabilitation treatment targeting dysphagia.Of the 13 dysphagia patients,7 reached almost complete recovery and were identified as recovered in follow-up fMRI studies.A 3.0 T MR scanner and echo planar imaging(EPI)T_2 WI sequence were employed to obtain the fMRI data.SPM2 software was used for post-processing of the fMRI data and displaying activated brain maps.Lateral index(LI)was calculated as LI:(C-1)/(C+I).Paired t tests were used to compare activated brain volume before and after complete recovery. Results Consistent activation of the bilateral primary sensorimotor cortex, anterior cingulated gyrus and the bilateral insular cortex were observed in the control group. Activation of the pons, medulla, left cerebellum, left prefrontal area, right occipital area and the left insular cortex were observed in the dysphagia group.Activation was observed in the bilateral primary sensorimotor cortex.bilateral prefrontal area, bilateral superior temporal gyrus, left insular cortex, bilateral frontal o-pereulum and anterior cingulated gyrus in the recovered patients. The total activated volume before recovery in the ip-silesional hemisDhere was significantly less compared with the contralesional hemisphere in the dysphagia group. In the recovered patients, both the activated brain volume of the ipsilesional hemisphere and value of LI were significant-ly larger than those at the initial examination. Conclusions Decreased activation in the sensorimotor cortex, the in-sular lobe and the cingulate gyms might be causes.of dysphagia.Compensation by the contralesional hemisphere in the early stages and then the restoration of the ipsilesional hemisphere after recovery may be mechanisms of dysphagia recovery in stroke patients.

Objective To probe the causes, early recognition and effective therapy of posttraumatic biloma. Methods The data of all patients with the injury of the liver and bile duct treated in our center during the past 10 years were reviewed.Patients, diagnosed with biloma were retrospectively analyzed in respects of sex, age, cause of biloma, methods and efficacy of diagnosis and treatment. Results There were 46 patients with biloma.Of them,40 were found after liver trauma of grade Ⅲ-Ⅴ.The incidence of biloma was 15.2% (40/263).In grade Ⅳ,Ⅴ,and Ⅲ,it was 22.6% (31/137) and 7.1% (9/126) respectively (x2 =12.20,P < 0.01) and in blunt and penetrating injury,it was 19.3% (35/181) and 6.1% (5/82) respectively (x2 =7.67,P < 0.01).Of these 40,36 were found during the course of conservative therapy of severe liver trauma; and 4 were found after laparotomy for the liver trauma. The remaining 6 cases of biloma had a history of injury to extrahepatic bile duct with a incidence of 18.8%(6/32).All 46 patients received spiral CT scaning plus MRI in 9,and ERCP in 11.Of those 40 with biloma after severe liver trauma,28 were cured by ultrasound-guided or computed tomography scan-guided pigtail drainage; and the remaining 12,in whom the biloma volume < 30 cm3 resolved spontaneously.Six patients in whom the biloma as a result of injury to extrahepatic bile duct were cured by surgical intervention. There was no death and complication related with the therapy of biloma. Conclusions Attention should be given to biloma formation, when nonoperative therapy is exercised for severe liver trauma.Ultrasound-or CT scan-guided pigtail drainage is an effective option, but those due to injury of extrahepatic bile duct require surgical intervention.

Objective To probe the effects of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-?B) on cell apoptosis and left ventricular segmental function in acute ischemia repeffusion in dogs.Method Twenty-four dogs were randomly divided into three groups:without left anterior artery (lAD) ligation group (C group),LAD was occluded 30 min following reperfusion 120 minutes in isehemical reperfusion group (IR group),and dogs were administered with PDTC before LAD ligation in ischemical reperfusion plus pyorrole dithitocarbamate group (PDTC group). The left ventricular segmental function was detected by echo cardiography using strain rate anlysis software.EF measured by Simpson's method.Cardiac myocyte apoptosis numbers were determined by terminal deoxynudeotidy transferease-mediated biotinylated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labeling (TUNEL).lmmunohistochemistry and western-blot anylysis of NF-?B protein expression. Results NF-?B was obviously expression on injury myocardium of IR group, and increased significantly in contrast to control group (P0.05)Conclusions NF-?B might play an important role in acute myocardial ischemia reperfusion.PDTC reduces myocardial iscbemia/repeffasion injury by preventing expression of factor NF-?B.
