Literature search is a systematic and well-organized search from published data to identify good quality references on a specific topic. The search can be a simple involving just a couple of sources and done within an hour or so. It can also be comprehensive and thorough where it involves multiple sources. However, in EBFP main purpose of a literature search is to obtain only a few available but relevant and high-quality evidence that can help the family practitioner make a clinical decision. The first step in making evidence-based decision is to convert the clinical problem for decision-making into a clinical question. It should be phrased in a simple sentence that is relevant and specific to the clinical problem, interesting enough to warrant searching for the answer and will likely obtain the article to answer the question. Based on the formulated clinical question discussed previously, identifying the key terms to be used for the search is the next step. The key terms are usually based on the PICO or its variants, POEM, SPICE or ECLIPSE elements in the clinical question. Since it will only be a simple search in EBFP, it is recommended to look in PubMed. PubMed is the online version of Index Medicus produced by the US National Library of Medicine (NLM). If the article is not available in PubMed, Google Scholar is another free web search engine that indexes the full text of scholarly literature across an array of publication formats and disciplines. Other advice for an efficient literature search is also discussed.

Acupuncture-related literatures published in foreign medical journal in Science Citation Index (SCI) periodicals in 2010 were retrieved, summarized and analyzed. The result shows that the recognition of acupuncture clinic abroad was still in the initial period. Most of the researches were still remained in the section of clinical efficacy verification. There was comparatively less studies on its working mechanism. Traditional treatments according to differentiation of syndromes were still deficient in clinical researches. There were big differences on research results, however, most of the result equated therapeutic effect of acupuncture with placeboes. And it was lack of unified and standard estimation system on the effect of acupuncture.

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the research status and influencing factors of the time-effect of acupuncture and to explain and analyze the optimal effect timing of acupuncture, and provide reference for obtaining the best clinical therapeutic effect. METHODS: Literature regarding the studies of the time-effect of acupuncture published from January 2000 to August 2018 was searched, concluded and analyzed in CNKI, WANFANG, VIP and PubMed databases. RESULTS: A total of 43 papers were included. The time-effect relationship of acupuncture was studied from various aspects: immediate effect, post-effect and total time-effect. The influencing factors of time-effect of acupuncture included needle retention time, acupoint types, number of acupoints and frequency of acupuncture treatment. CONCLUSION Even though preliminary achievements have been made in the study of the time-effect of acupuncture, there are many limitations and deficiency. These studies are mostly isolated and unsystematic, and the observation time of needle retention time and post-effect is not long enough to observe the exact best induction period, half-life period and residual effect period of acupuncture.In the future, we should combine the existing research experience and achievements to formulate a more reasonable research plan and observe the entire period of acupuncture in a longitudinal direction.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the literature characteristics of the clinical researches on tumor treatment with acupuncture-moxibustion in PubMed database so as to provide the references for the study of acupuncture-moxibusion in intervention of tumor. METHODS: The articles on the clinical researches of acupuncture-moxibusion in treatment of tumor were retrieved from PubMed database listed till December 31, 2018. Using bibliometric methodology, the analysis was conducted on publication year, publication journal, author, country or region, research institution, disease spectrum and therapeutic regimen. RESULTS: A total of 143 articles are included. The publications are increased steadily since 2004. The articles are published in 64 international journals, of which, CONCLUSION Acupuncture-moxibustion is quite extensively involved in the treatment of tumor in the field of nervous (mental) system and digestive system. But the regimen of acupuncture- moxibustion needs to be further optimized and promoted.

Herein, I review the searching tools employing a Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) such as liver disease and liver neoplasm or an author index for this Journal in the PubMed at a website. Of course, The Korean Journal of Hepatology should be continually striving to be upgraded. Dream comes true.

PURPOSE: We designed this study to demonstrate recent trends in the proportion of adult hip research in orthopedics, to identify countries leading the adult hip research, and to evaluate the relationship between the economic power of the countries and their contributions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Studies published in seven select orthopedic journals were retrieved from PubMed. Among them, we determined the number of adult hip studies. The countries-of-origin of adult hip studies, and the economic power of the countries were investigated. RESULTS: A total of 7218 orthopedic publications and 1993 (27.6%) addressed adult hip research were identified. Adult hip studies increased from 313 (23.7%) in 2000 to 555 (27.9%) in 2011. Twenty-five countries accounted for 97.6% of the total number of adult hip studies, and gross domestic product correlated with publication volume (Spearman's rho, 0.723; p=0.000). CONCLUSION: Researchers from a limited number of developed countries have published their studies in the adult hip discipline.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of autohemotherapy at acupoint for acne. METHODS: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding autohemotherapy at acupoint for acne were searched in CNKI, WanFang, VIP database and PubMed. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, two investigators performed the literature screening, data extraction and basis evaluation, independently. Meta analysis was performed by using Review Manager 5.3 software. RESULTS: Eight RCTs were included, involving 573 patients. The combined effect of effective rate was 1.21 (95% : 1.12, 1.30); the combined effect of skin lesions improvement was -1.00 (95%: -2.14, -0.14, ＝1.73, =0.08); the combined effect of recurrence rate was 0.44 (95%: 0.09, 2.15, ＝1.01, =0.31). CONCLUSION The autohemotherapy at acupoint has better efficacy and skin lesions improvement for acne than control treatment, and autohemotherapy is safer.

This is a systematic review and meta-analysis on the efficacy of ondemand tramadol for the treatment of lifelong premature ejaculation.

METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis with metaregression of trials evaluating the use of tramadol to treat premature ejaculation using intravaginal ejaculation latency time as a measure.Relevant studies were identified using PubMed, Ebscohost,MEDLINE, EMBASE and the Cochrane Collaboration Library.

RESULTS: This analysis included 8 publications. Study of the intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) among 599 patients showed that tramadol was effective in subjects with premature ejaculation as seen by the significant difference in mean IELT of tramadol treated patients versus those receiving placebo (mean difference 2.43 minutes; 95% CI 0.93-3.93; P=0.002). The effect on IELT between tramadol and paroxetine was not statistically significant (mean difference -0.58; 95% CI -5.81 to 4.65; P=0.83).Meta-regression analysis showed that the lower the dose of tramadol,the higher its benefit in the prolongation of IELT, however, there was no significant difference (95% CI regression coefficient -0.0956 to 0.0322). There was a significant difference in adverse effects profile of tramadol versus placebo (risk ratio 2.48; 95% CI 1.55-3.98; overall effect Z= 3.79; P<0.0002) and overall therapeutic effectiveness between tramadol compared to placebo (risk ratio 0.55; 95% CI 0.46-0.67; P<0.00001).

CONCLUSION: On-demand tramadol is an effective treatment for lifelong premature ejaculation. It significantly prolongs the intravaginal ejaculation latency time. The overall adverse events and overall therapeutic effectiveness are significantly greater during treatment with tramadol.
