4.The Research for the Nursing Theory Development.
Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2002;14(2):244-255
PURPOSE: This study was to understand to the nursing theory frame contained in the traditional philosophy and western nursing theory for the theory development fit for Korean people and to identified the strategy for nursing theory development. METHOD: To perform this study various relevant texts-western, eastern, classical and contemporary were reviewed. RESULT: The metaparadigm of the nursing in western considers four major factors-Human being, Environment, Health and Nursing. In Korea, the metaparadigm of nursing considers three major factors-Universe, Human being (body, life, health, disease) and Nursing. The key strategy for establishing comprehensive nursing theory which combines both western and eastern is to study the nursing literature based on eastern and western philosophy. Theorists should study the life and culture of the specific nation in order to understand the essence of the thoughts and psychology of the patients and to investigate the phenomena, which will be the foundation of theory development. CONCLUSION: Western nursing theory must be utilized to provide practical framework for the development of nursing theory, and practical approach is necessary for combining western and eastern theory.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2018;24(2):130-138
PURPOSE: This study was done to analyze the trend of theory application in articles published in the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration (JKANA) over the last 10 years. METHODS: Four hundred and eighty-five articles were reviewed to determine the scope of theory-applied research. General characteristics, study design and keywords classification by nursing meta-paradigm were analyzed using established analysis framework. RESULTS: Twenty-four articles (4.9%) were identified as theory-applied research publications. More than half of the articles (54.2%) stated that a theoretical framework was used; the number of theories used in the 24 articles was 27 including nine nursing theories. The majority of the studies were conducted in hospital settings. In the keyword classification by nursing meta-paradigm, 28 environment-related keywords were identified but only 7 keywords were related to health. CONCLUSION: The results show that theory application in Korean nursing administration research is very limited. It is necessary to create a positive educational environment for graduate students to learn about nursing theories as well as theories from other disciplines. In addition, different levels of nursing theories should be continuously developed in the field of nursing administration.

6.Aesthetical-ethical Paradigm of Care Ethics in Nursing.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2002;32(3):364-372
PURPOSE: The purposes of this study was to find aesthetical-ethical paradigm of care ethics by understanding the unique moral character of care as an art and to suggest the optimal direction of nursing ethics. METHOD: This study used meaning-heuristic and -interpretive methods of hermeneutics based on philosophical aesthetic theory; Baumgarten's aesthetics, Schiller's theory of aesthetical education and Kant's theory of aesthetical judgement. RESULT: The concept of care implied aesthetical and ethical character; caring as an art was related to moral feeling based on human dignity und emotional communication in interpersonal-relationship. Caring as an art was interpreted as a moral ideal for the promotion of the humanity und the interaction in personal-relationship according to nursing theories. Philosophical aesthetics could provide the theoretical base for the interpretation of caring as an art. The proper paradigm of care ethics in nursing could be found in character-trait ethics and communication ethics according to the philosophical aesthetics. CONCLUSION: This study could show aesthetical-ethical paradigm of care ethics in nursing by the heuristic interpretation of caring as an art according to the philosophical aesthetics.

8.Altruistic care theory of nursing (ACTON): Towards health equity through nursing practice.
Philippine Journal of Nursing 2018;88(2):43-47
Nursing as a complex system engages nurse at the heart of health care functions fostering their indispensable nature especially in the public health environment. This paper is aimed at describing the Altruistic Care Theory of Nursing (ACTON), addressing the intricacy of nursing practice in health equity and health inequity matters. Nursing that is delivered as altruistic care can be performed by nurses through "internalizing and intervening behaviors" which include reflective processes that transcend the traditional health care. "Nursing Interventions" are multifaceted and inclusive of individualized care. Altruistic Care Theory in Nursing may prove advantageous in addressing health inequity issues through human to human interactions with clients, co-workers, and other members of the health care team, and participating in collaborative and informed engagements.

Jeong Sook PARK ; Young Suk PARK
Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2018;24(2):168-180
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to explore preceptees' experience among nursing students in the Clinical Nursing Practice program as integral practice. Specific aims were to identify problems students face as preceptees at a clinical practice and how they interact with preceptors and others. METHODS: Grounded theory methodology was utilized. Data were collected from interactive field notes and transcribed notes with individual in-depth interview from 12 senior nursing students who had experiences as a preceptee in the Clinical Nursing Practice. RESULTS: Through constant comparative analysis, a core category emerged as “Being refined while taking a firm stand with lack.” The process of “Being refined while taking a firm stand with lack” consisted of four phases: sailing phase, adaptation phase, achievement phase and wistful returning phase. CONCLUSION: The findings of the study indicate that there is a need for nursing students to understand the limitations and strengths to learning experiences in preceptorship. In addition, the Clinical Nursing Practice as an integral practice program is needed to improve nursing capacity and for proper adaptation to real clinical environment among graduating students.
