The purpose of this study is finding the easy way of 4 categories activity level confirmation for estimated energy requirement calculation. Total of 386, 5th and 6th grade primary school students participated. The time spent on 7 kinds of activity were collected for 1 day by the internet program developed. Judged by the activity coefficient, sedentary were 6.7% and 5.1%, low active 33.2% and 40.4%, active 43.8%, and45.5%, and very active 16.3% and 9.0% for boy and girl, respectively. The highest and significant correlation coefficient between activity coefficient and time spent on activities shown were 0.339 in commute activity for boys, and 0.466 in leisure for girls. The sensitivity of the sedentary conformation by commute hour for boys was 0.79, and that of very active was 0.56. The sensitivity of the sedentary conformation by leisure hour for girls was 0.67, and that of very active was 0.63. The sensitivity of low active and active by 7 different types of activity was quite low, 0.04~0.37. The exact agreement of activity level conformed by easy way developed was 30.8% and 33.7%, for boys and girls, respectively. More accurate way to identify 4 categories activity level needs to be developed, especially sensitive to conformation of low active and active levels.

Women and elderly are often linked to several disadvantages and constraints in many aspects of life. The scenario could be even worse for an elderly woman. Participating in leisure has proven to be beneficial for elderly in general. Yet little is known about the pattern of leisure and constraints faced by elderly women in order for them to pursue leisure activities. This study aims to explore the various leisure constraints faced by the elderly women. A total of 20 elderly women were involved in this study, which were selected purposively and also by snowballing technique. An in-depth interview was conducted with each respondent lasted approximately 15 to 30 minutes. The identified constraints were categorized into three main themes, which were structural, intrapersonal and interpersonal constraints. Among factors that had been identified were preoccupation with domestic affairs, the unavailability of appropriate space or area to perform desired leisure activities, lack or unavailability of transportation, safety issue, misperceptions that being old should focus on religious activity and becoming effortless, domestic activities are comparable to exercise and lacking of elderly people to perform certain activities together. In view of the modifiable nature of most of constraints faced by the elderly women to pursue leisure activities, necessary actions should be taken by the relevant authorities in tackling the constraints and at the same time developing a more active and healthy elderly women society. The right of the elderly women and women in general should be acknowledged, including their desire to actively involve in certain leisure activities. They should also appropriately educate on the importance of leisure and involvement in other type of leisure activities other than religious activities.

BACKGROUND: Seafaring is an inherently stressful environment. Because working time and leisure time is spent in the same confined environment for a prolonged period of time, many stressors present in seafaring can also be conceived of as chronic. We explored the effects of duration at sea, seafaring experience, environmental stressors, and psychological capital (PsyCap) on the sleep quality and fatigue of seafarers. PsyCap is a construct that draws upon ideas from positive psychology and positive organizational behavior, and is intended to capture an individual's psychological capacities that can be developed and utilized for performance improvements. METHODS: We collected survey data from a sample of seafarers working in the offshore re-supply industry (n = 402) and a sample of seafarers working on board combined passenger and cargo ships (n = 340). RESULTS: PsyCap emerged as a robust predictor with statistically significant relations to fatigue and sleep quality in both samples. PsyCap also interacted with duration at sea in explaining fatigue in seafarers working on board the passenger and cargo ships. Seafarers on passenger and cargo ships also reported significantly higher levels of fatigue than those working in the offshore re-supply industry. CONCLUSION: Coupled with emerging research showing that PsyCap is trainable, our results suggest that maritime organizations could have much to gain by being cognizant of and developing routines for continually developing the PsyCap of their employees.

Diversified leisure involvement pose various health benefits to the elderly population. However, some elderly are too focus on doing a particular type of activity during their leisure time such as religious activity. This study aims to explore factors that could possibly contribute to the higher involvement in religious activity among the Malay ethnic elderly in Malaysia. In depth interviews were conducted, involving a total of 20 elderly aged 60 years and above with stratification by background characteristics. Each interview was conducted for an average of 15 to 30 minutes. They were purposively selected from two health clinics located in two different districts in the state of Selangor, representing an urban and a rural area. Majority of the elderly interviewed perceived that by engaging in religious activities such as prayer and reciting the Holy Quran or old Islamic scripture gives them serenity or calmness. Additionally, they also felt that involvement in such activities is very synonymous with being old and therefore one should be actively involved in religious activities with increasing age. In view of the lack of diversity of leisure involvement among the elderly and the passive and solitary nature of some of the religious activities, the elderly should be made aware of the importance of participating in other types of leisure activities especially physical activities. Although, they gain spiritual and social benefits from involving in religious activities, they also need to perform other form of activities that can improve the physical health status.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of leisure satisfaction on the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed with 292 nurses having experienced shift work at least for 6 months. Data were collected from August to September in 2014. Descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis were performed. RESULTS: The study showed that job satisfaction was significantly correlated with job stress (r=.-320, p<.001) and leisure satisfaction (r=.317, p<.001). Leisure satisfaction had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction (F=25.087, p<.001). CONCLUSION: This study concluded that the role of leisure satisfaction may moderate the relationship between the two. That is, the nurses who perceived higher satisfaction on their leisure life tend to have higher satisfaction to their job even in stress situation. Therefore, the strategies for improving leisure satisfaction are needed to increase job satisfaction in stressful conditions.

PURPOSE: The present study was intended to measure fatigue symptoms according to the quality of sleep among nurses working for an university hospital and to reveal its related factors. METHODS: The self-administered questionnaires were given to 397 nurses employed in an university hospital located in Daejeon City during the period from June 1st to July 31st, 2007. RESULTS: The group with higher quality of sleep accounted for 78.1% of all the subjects and the one with lower quality, 21.9%. According to qualities of sleep, the fatigue symptom was determined to be significantly higher in the group with lower quality of sleep than its counterpart. On adjustment for quality of sleep, the level of fatigue symptom was significantly higher in the groups, than in each respective counterparts, who don't take regular exercises, who have few leisure time, who have lower level of subjective health status, who range> or = 1 and < 10 years in job careers, who work in shifts, who reported that it is hard to get physical burden of work, who are satisfied with the job, who find themselves unfit to the job, who are considering quitting the job, who have higher job demand, who have lower job control, who have higher level of supervisor support, who have type A behavior pattern. CONCLUSION: The study results may explain that the fatigue symptom of nurses is highly associated with the quality of sleep independently of other variables and also with job-related characteristics independently of the sleep quality. In conclusion, to reduce the fatigue symptom of nurses, strategic efforts should be directed for programs to improve the quality of sleep and a proper job analysis.

OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to determine the effects of workers' current problems to the perceived stress and work performance among manufacturing industry workers in Korea. METHODS: Responses to structured survey questionnaires were received from 556 workers at 7 medium-sized manufacturing factories in Gyeongsang Province. RESULTS: Among the 556 responders, health problems, job stress, and life stress showed significant effect on their perceived stress. Job stress showed significant effect on workers' lateness and early leaving, and culture & leisure problems on absenteeism. Health problems and job stress took negative effects on their job concentration difficulty. The severity of these problems were related with the desired length of retention. CONCLUSION: We proved the effect of workers' current problems to their performance. The study results will be helpful to clarify what EAP services should be considered to solve these problems at a certain organization.

Wandering is acknowledged as one of the most complex, challenging, and potentially dangerous dementia-related behaviors, and can result in elopement, injury, and even death. For the healthy people, walking is a common and a pleasurable leisure activity. However, wandering in dementia may be an exhausting behavior for caregivers and raise safety concerns. The term 'wandering' covers different types of behavior, including aimless movement without a discernible purpose. Although with respect to the etiology of wandering, biological, psychosocial and person-environment interaction has been suggested, the etiology of wandering is poorly understood. Although it is possible that management of coexistent psychopathology would help to ameliorate this problematic behavior, evidence on the effectiveness of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions is limited.

As the interest in health is increasing and the population enjoyed the leisure sports is steadily increasing, the stress fracture, fracture or variant of metatarsal bone of foot has been shown frequently. The mistaken estimation about the length and rank of metatarsal bones during the osteotomy of the metatarsal bones of foot can be complicated. It is essential to have detailed knowledges about the anatomical structure of surgical region. This study aimed to investigate the metatarsal bones of foot and to develop a regression equation that can predict the length of metatarsal bones during the osteotomy. The subject of this study is fifty four feet (30M/224F). We measured the whole length and the article length of metatarsal bone. Also, we measured the whole width and the article width in the head, body, base of the metatarsal bone. The data was analyzed using SPSS win 13.0. The regression equation models of length of the metatarsal bones were developed by multiple regression analysis. The regression equation predicted first metatarsal length was second metatarsal articular length x0.770+7.780, second metatarsal length was third metatarsal length x0.976+6.050, third metatarsal length was fourth metatarsal length x1.000+0.922, fourth metatarsal length was third metatarsal length x0.917+4.167, fifth metatarsal length was fourth metatarsal length x0.901+7.972. The results of this study would be useful to clarify the characteristics of the metatarsal bone of the foot, to develop a regression equation for prediction of the length of the metatarsal bone.

A fracture of the humeral shaft can occur by direct or indirect injury. Most occur as a result of direct injury mechanisms such as falls from a height, direct blows, and traffic accidents. Recently, the population enjoying watersports for leisure is increasing and 'flyfish riding', in which passengers ride an inflatable raft drawn by a motorboat, may cause humeral shaft fracture as twisting and axial compression forces occur on the humeral shaft while boarding. Accordingly, the incidence of humeral shaft fracture is expected to increase as more people are expected to enjoy leisure sport activities such as 'flyfish riding'. We report 4 cases of humeral fracture that occurred during this activity in the year 2011.
