Abstract: Since l982, Hebei Provincial People,s Hospital developed a 4-week Program for AcuteMyocardial Infarction (AMI)rehabilitation at first in China. A3-week program and a 2-week programwere developed, respectively in 1984 and 1988. Free walking exercise was main activity in the 3-weekand 4-week programs. The average days of hospital stay for 4-week program was 49 and for the 3- week program was 39 days. The cardiac capacity was over 5 METs while discharging from hospital.Theeffeet was 95.6%, one case was no effect, with complication of heart failure. Another 79-year-oldwoman got heart attack during hospitalization. Through follow-up the rate of returning to the condi-tion of the post was 71-74%。 The programs were easy to carryout. The 4-week program was suitablefor the elderly and that with cardiac complication. The 2-week program was suitable for young pa-tients.
