Abstract:
The system of integrated physical therapy(PT) and occupational therapy(OT)is shaping in China today. After analyzing strengths of Chinese traditional style PT and OT, and those of their western counterparts, the author explained exercise therapy, physical modalities, acupuncture and Tui Na (manipulation and massage), and also Chinese style OT. In terms of integrated PT, the author indicated PT at acupoints (PTA) as an example and gave a detailed description.Finally, the author summarized the strategies China is taking to promote and realize integrated PT and OT in medical rehabilitation.
