Abstract: Lactic acid is one of the main metabolites in the body, and its clearance rate reflects the dynamic changes of lactic acid in the body. Recent studies have shown that lactate clearance rate is related to the prognosis of critically ill patients with sepsis/septic shock, cardiogenic shock, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, postoperative cardiovascular surgery, and liver and kidney dysfunction. This article reviews the relevant research progress of lactate metabolism and lactate clearance rate in different critically ill patients.
