Abstract: Diabetes mellitus can increase the risk and severity of periodontitis and may be associated with changes in the immune characteristics of periodontal tissues. In this paper, the morphological and immune characteristics of periodontal tissues in diabetic patients were reviewed in terms of the changes of morphology, structure and local immune cells in periodontal tissues caused by hyperglycemia and their regulatory mechanisms.
