- Abstract: As a source of traffic-related air pollution, diesel particulate matter (DPM) associate with a variety of lung-related diseases, but there is no systematic review of the relationship between DPM and the development and progression of asthma. This article reviewed the relationship between DPM and asthma, the effect and mechanism of DPM on airway inflammation and remodeling in asthma, and illustrated that DPM exposure may participate in airway inflammation and remodeling through oxidative stress, immune regulation and regulation of lung and intestinal microecology, so as to promote the development and progression of asthma.
