- Abstract: Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) exhibits superior biological functions by improving periodontal inflammation, promoting the migration and proliferation of periodontal-related stem cells, promoting the formation of blood vessels and periodontal ligament-like tissue, and regulating the formation of bone/cementum. It plays an important role in tooth development, repair and regeneration. bFGF can be combined with seed cells and scaffold materials for periodontal tissue regeneration, which has been verified in a number of experimental studies. However, the application of bFGF alone as a drug in clinical treatment requires further research.
