- Abstract: Photobiomodulation, also known as photochemical modulation, refers to the use of low-power light from various sources to induce photophysical and photochemical modulation without thermal injury in the body. Photobiomodulation is related to the wavelength and energy of light. Target chromophores for light of different wavelengths include cytochrome C oxidase, opsin, porphyrin, etc., and the parameters such as power density, spot size, and energy density determine the energy of light. At present, many in vivo and in vitro studies have confirmed the application potential of photobiomodulation in the treatment of various skin diseases.
