Abstract:
Two cases of gas containing brain abscesses were presented with the findings of the brain CT scan and plain skull X-rays. The first case was the otogenic cerebellar abscess due to the gas forming anaerobic gram negative bacillus infection(Bacteroides Melaninogenicus). The second case was left frontal epidural abscess of paranasal sinus origin which showed no growing organisms in culture study. Prompt surgical drainage of the purulent material and gas from the abscess cavity were necessary to prevent the expansion of the gas and pus collection in the abscess cavity.
