Abstract: For healthy term or preterm neonates who do not require resuscitation after birth, delayed cord clamping (DCC) for 1-3 min has been shown to have a beneficial effect on neonatal and infant health. DCC is recommended as a standard procedure by the World Health Organization. Umbilical cord milking (UCM) can be considered as an alternative when DCC is unfeasible. However, the safety of UCM in preterm infants less than 28 weeks still needs more evidence.
