Abstract: Xanthogranulomatous inflammation is an uncommon form of chronic inflammatory process. Only a few isolated case reports of xanthogranulomatous appendicitis (XA) have been published. XA has nonspecific imaging findings and cannot be reliably differentiated on imaging from locally advanced malignancy. XA however follows a benign course and can potentially be treated with surgical resection.
