Abstract:
PURPOSE: We report a case of fibrous histiocytoma at corneosleral limbus. We treated with lamellar corneoscleral graft with good surgical and visual outcomes. METHODS: A 7-year-old boy presented with a yellowish colored, painless, and growing mass at superior corneosclera in the right eye over 3 months. Before visiting our hospital, the mass was histologically diagnosed as benign fibrous histiocytoma at other hospital. After surgical excision of the mass only at scleral portion, the mass recurred in a few weeks and grew into corneal center gradually. Visual acuity decreased to 20/200. We excised the mass and managed the defect site with lamellar corneoscleral graft. RESULTS: On operating microsope, the mass in corneal portion was deeply located in corneal stroma from beneath the epithelium to above descemet's membrane. During excision of the mass, two tiny descemet's membrane rupture were occurred without serious problem and the operation was completed successfully. During the postoperative follow-up period of 6 months, there was no clinical evidence of recurrence and graft rejection and his visual acuity improved to 8/20.
