Abstract:
Objective: To observe MRI features of brucellosis arthritis of the hip (BAH). Methods: Clinic and MRI data of 100 patients with BAH were retrospectively analyzed, and BAH were staged and typed based on the duration of symptoms and the location of disease. Results: Among 100 BAH patients, 84 were males, 16 were females. Unilateral joint involvement was found in 61 cases, while bilateral joint involvements in 39 cases. The most common MRI findings of BAH were acute phase and total joint type. MRI findings of bilateral BAH were consistent in 30 cases and inconsistent in 9 cases. There was no obvious proportional progress in BAH lesions with increasing of serum agglutination test. MRI could clearly show the changes after BAH treatment. Conclusion: BAH infection is common in males, mainly involving unilateral joint, and total joint type is common. MR examination has advantages in early diagnosis of BAH.
