- Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To review the progress in the clinical application, research and development of biphasic or bimodal drug release systems. METHODS: The characteristics of biphasic drug release systems based on different technologies were reviewed. RESULTS and CONCLUSION: Compared with single modal drug release systems, biphasic drug release systems have definite advantages and developed rapidly in recent years.
