Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: To review the metabolic pattern of resveratrol, and reveal the bioactive form to improve the consequent bioavailability of resveratrol. METHODS: According to the domestic and foreign literatures, the numerous data including in vitro, and in vivo models were considered to analyze and summarize the metabolic spectrum of resveratrol. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The presented results showed that phase II reactions were the major in the drug metabolic of resveratrol, and sulfation predominated in the human cell lines, but biological impacts of resveratrol and its metabolites as well as the synergistic effects should be focused on in the future to increase the bioavailability of resveratol.
