- Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To study the features and the functions of patent family inpatentregime, thus to provide experience for the Chinese domestic pharmaceutical enterprises in the development and the management of patent. METHODS: In the case of lipitor patent family, technical topics, application period and the inner relationship were analyzed, aiming to acquire the constructing strategy of patent family in pharmaceutical field. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Crystal and composition patents are also important in the surrounding patent layouts besides the chemical compound patent. After the application of the chemical compound patent, multi-level patent families can be constructed by making use of the priority and divisional application system, that can reinforce patent strategy of enterprise.
