- Abstract: More and more people have realized the problems of exogenous harmful residues in traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs). In this review, the current development in studies on and construction of drug standard was reviewed. Moreover, the sample census result and degree of harm were analyzed. It is proposed that the concept of risk management should be integrated into the control of exogenous harmful residues in TCMs. And we should follow the scientific principles of risk control and develop new supervision system to ensure the quality and safety of TCMs as well as the development of the industry.
