Abstract:
Head and cervical artery dissections refer to destruction of integrity of the wall of extracranial carotid artery, extracranial vertebral artery and intracranial artery. In arterial dissection, blood enters the cleft between intima and media or the cleft between intima and adventitia of arterial wall, becoming intramural hematoma. Head and cervical artery dissections are among the most common causes of stroke in young people. The etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of head and cervical artery dissections were reviewed in this article, aiming to provide reference for clinical practice.
