Abstract:
Survival prediction of patients with advanced cancer plays an important role in the research and practice of palliative medicine. A whole clinical procedure of prognosis prediction consists of two components, one is survival prediction and the other is information communication. Clinical and statistic predictions of survival are the main approaches. This paper summarizes the factors related to survival, the primary predictive approaches and the communicating skills in the survival prediction for patients with advanced cancer in order to provide reference information for carrying out relevant studies, establishing decision-making pracess and improving the quality of life for patients with advanced cancer.
