Abstract:
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) play an important role in cancer recurrence and metastasis, which are the principal reasons to death. In recent studies, it has been reported that platelets are closely associated with CTCs for inducing epithelial-mesenchymal-like transition, pro-angiogenesis, tumor thrombus and immunosuppression, and they can accelerate the progression of tumor directly. This review summarizes that how platelets affect generation and metastasis of CTCs in order to find out new evidences and direction for treatment of cancer. Copyright © 2014 by TUMOR.
