Abstract:
Macrophage plays important roles in the formation of atherosclerotic plaque,and the role of macrophage autophagy in the process of atherosclerosis has drawn increasing attention from researchers. The lysosomal system degrades damages,degenerat- ed,senescent organelles and proteins in the cytoplasm. Basic level of autophagy can protect the cells from environmental stimuli, while excessive autophagy can lead to cell death and do harm to the stability of the plaque. The regulation of macrophage autophagy can affect the development of atherosclerosis. In this paper,the regulation of macrophage signal pathway in the development of athero- sclerosis,the factors that induce autophagy and other factors are reviewed systematically in order to provide a new target for the treat- ment of atherosclerosis.
