- Abstract: The prevalence of insomnia is high among cancer patients. However, insomnia tends to be perceived as less important problem by patients themselves as well as clinicians. In this article, cancer-specific precipitating and perpetuating factors for insomnia, development of cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia especially for cancer patients, and pharmacological treatment of insomnia for cancer patients will be discussed. And also, various primary sleep disorders including circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorder, sleep-related breathing disorder, restless legs syndrome, and narcolepsy or idiopathic hypersomnia will be explained in the context of cancer.
