Abstract: Safe and effective vaccines are urgently needed to prevent and control the outbreak of COVID-19. SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the genus Betacoronavirus like severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Here we summarized the current progress and problems in the development of vaccines against SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV in order to provide reference for COVID-19 vaccine development.
