Treatment for latent tuberculosis infection in China: advantages or disadvantages

- Abstract: Tuberculosis remains one of the top ten causes of death worldwide, which seriously endangered human health. Latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI) refers to the fact that there no active tuberculosis after human body is infected, but there is the risk of developing active tuberculosis. This article elaborates the advantages and disadvantages of LTBI treatment, and based on the reality of tuberculosis in China, it is suggested that the prevention and treatment of LTBI should be improved step by step and the treatment of LTBI should be promoted from are to point in China,so as to eliminate tuberculosis in latent infection, reduce the incidence of tuberculosis,and achieve the goal of END TB strategy by the World Health Organization by 2035.
